Do You Ever Take a Daytime Nap?

For some reason, about four o'clock in the afternoon, I start yawning and I just go lay down on my bed and cover up with a warm blanket and read a chapter of my current book and off to sleep I go.
I have the luxury to do that now that I'm retired.
My son says that when I feel tired like that in the middle of the day, it's a blood sugar reaction, that I need to eat something or drink a glass of orange juice.
Maybe he's right. Does that ever happen to you? I am not diabetic,. But, I guess it could still be associated with my sugar level.
Oh well, I guess I should eat a snack. It's 3:21PM and I'm yawning .

Yes, I think our sugar levels have a lot to do with our energy levels. Balancing that out is very important, especially if you are on the job all day. Fortunately for me, I can just take a nap when I feel like doing so, but that is not something that everyone can do.

Thirty-five minutes is like a "power" nap and they say it works wonders and still doesn't interfere with going to bed at night and sleeping well. Sometimes a short nap is all a person needs to regain some energy.

@IreneVincent i just know that it helps me and feel everyone needs to readjust midday so a nap should be required for all..

You know, the Hispanic people have the right idea. An afternoon siesta. When we were in Mexico, that's what we did. Got up early, had a nice breakfast and went shopping. Then we came back to the resort and had a nice lunch and in the heat of the day we took a two hour nap. Then we could stay up late and enjoy cooler evening hours.

Not sure, It is almos 3 p.m. here and I feel like I could take a nap but notgonna do it I have a terrible time getting to sleep at night. It isso hard for me to get to sleep anymore, Itake Tylenol P.M. every night but it seems ot to work ofr me anymore?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. I hope that you can see the doctor and get some help with that. January is coming up so hopefully you will be able to do that right away. Tylenol doesn't help me at all and it can destroy your liver if you take too much, so be careful with that.

I agree. I love my naps. I'm glad I can take naps when I need them.

@Gr8bit Now THAT would be ODD. I have seen people sleeping at the Mall and in airports, but not in a comfortable position.

@IreneVincent Wouldn't it be great if it became law that people nap when they need it, malls had lounge area's, trains wait for you take wake up at your stop instead of going on to the next one :-)

Yes and sometimes I fall asleep in my chair, right in front of the computer.

@totobasso I fall asleep sometimes in the chair watching TV, especially if it's nice and warm and cozy. This evening I had my pellet stove on and it was warm, but I wanted to see the Dolly Parton movie, so I kept getting up and getting some water to drink when the commercials came on. So I didn't fall asleep.

@Hatley So far I've never hurt myself. I usually lean to the side and wake up but too lazy to go lie down.
