Yes, I Am A Woman, And To Prove It.....

Me - Jabo

There has been quite a debate going on in one of Poehere's posts regarding my gender, so to prove that I am indeed a woman here is a photo of me taken a few weeks ago. Lately several people have made the mistake of assuming I am male. I know that names ending in 'o' usually are male, but when I chose my user name I didn't think of that. It is just the first two letters of my first name and surname. Though it doesn't bother me to be thought of as a man, I thought I'd set the record straight. Have you been mistaken for the other sex? Also there have been a couple of posts recently, (from UncleJoe and Inlemay), in which they are saying that they like to know what members look like. So here I am, killing two birds with one stone.

Wow!! There you are- a well groomed perfect lady - putting to rest the thoughts about you being a male. I sometimes wonder if there are writings that have a gender attached to them. (lol) I have always had the same haircut as yours but recently have been trying to grow my hair just for a change. It has now reached my shoulder.

@jaboUK I know what you mean. It does not fly about too when there is too much wind. The reason why I decided to grow my hair is because a friend of mine who s a senior too feels that her hair has stopped growing. I wanted to see if that was the case even with me. Luckily, so far so good (lol) You are cat's whiskers sometimes

@allknowing My hair grows far too quickly, it definitely hasn't stopped growing. (My underarm hair has though!) That's a sweet last sentence, thank you.

@allknowing Yes this should convince people that I'm female (except @Phredwreck who thinks I'm a cat!). I'm afraid I go for the easy option regarding my hair - 'wash and go'!

Oh yes, it has happened a few times to me. Asylum is a rather neutral name to use and despite my screenname of Koalemos referring to one of the Greek Gods, he is not a well known name. Inevitable I have been mistaken for a woman by a few members, but like yourself I do not worry about that.

@Asylum Yes it's pointless being bothered about it, but it does surprise me when someone refers to me as 'he'.

@jaboUK Instead of uploading your own photograph you could have simply posted a photograph of all your shoes, which would have been just as descriptive.

@Asylum Nope - I told you before that I'm not a typical woman in that respect, despite what I said in my 'I wonder' post!. Handbags and shoes and shopping leave me cold

I never had doubts concerning your gender. People see my picture and probably know right away my gender. Although I have had many think I'm female based on topics in my online masters program. The one professor probably didn't read my bio, she was always referring to me as 'she' when commenting on something I wrote. In the end I just let it go. I probably got a better grade because of it.

@OneOfMany Lol - that's a bit sexist to say that you think your professor gave you better grades because she thought you were female!!

@jaboUK It's me being honest. I felt like my grades were better than they would have been. I just felt like she was annoyed with the males in the class. Casual observation decided that thought process!

I don't know about that, Elaine... I've been known to write some very female-centric comments on subjects I probably should have stayed out of and (as far as I know) nobody even batted an eyelid at me... Did I "get away with it" or.... ? You are assuming, Dearheart! Assuming on myLot might get you teased!

@jaboUK I remember seeing your picture, but I couldn't remember what it was for. I got my hair cut short, last weekend, and have had so many compliments on it this week. And although its salt and pepper in colour, some of it was bleached (blondish) from the sun last summer. I've got a coat of many colours!

@SIMPLYD Yes, I've never hidden the fact that I'm a woman. The grey hair doesn't bother me - I used to dye it when it first started showing in my 40s, but soon decided it was too much hassle.
