What's your opinion on the terrorism going on around the world today? Do you think that these terrorist attacks will increase in frequency or size of attacks and how do you think we will combat terrorist activities? Will countries decide that they must prevent terrorism to the extent of launching military strikes on Syria like after the Paris attacks or work it out peacefully with the leaders of ISIS/ other extremist groups? /discuss

Sadly I don't think peacefully is part of the terrorists vocabulary.

True. They think that carrying out these attacks will spread their message and influence and to be frank, it's quite sad that people actually become influenced by them.

@31337Gh0st It is, killing in the name of anything is wrong. But there are stories of young people in the US leaving to go join them.

@fishtiger58 I see, on the news, stories of young teenagers (around 14) in the UK being arrested on charges of terrorism and conspiring to commit terrorism. Terrorist groups like ISIS are weak and manipulate troubled children who are naive. The worst part of it is that from those children, the ISIS message gets passed around as they caught this child by monitoring his suspicious mobile texts to other children in the UK and even Australia.

Increase in frequency is a given. As to the size of attacks, I think it will not be as large as 911 attack. 911 was a very well executed attack. The terrorists really spent a lot of money to make it a success. The recent attacks are different. It seems that the terrorist leaders do not want to spend money to make it big.

I agree but i've heard on the news that radio chatter has been picked up in areas of the middle-east referencing landmarks in america and europe, even as far as targeting a city, new york, as it was also referenced through the radio chatter. Regarding frequency, I too believe that attacks will increase in size because of a spread of influence. I also think that there will be a big attack in a sense that there will be many small attacks spread across a large area in a small period of time; because of the spread of attacks, europe, australia, america and the middle-east it is clear that influence spreads to people across the world and these attacks will probably build to something huge.

I am not certain if they will attack more often, or wait to make the attacks bigger, one thing I am certain of is ISIS does not seem to want to talk peace. I think in dealing with ISIS it will have to be a case of fight fire with fire.

Isolating these factions of terrorists is time consuming and expensive for governments. Disabling them is difficult, they are in small sectors all over the world, as soon as one faction is discovered and negotiated with or disabled another faction takes their place. It is already a very huge problem and all people everywhere need to be cautious and aware, because it is always the element of surprise that takes place and they chatter to confuse.

Modern technology has made it easier than ever for terrorists to organize and strike. There is no way to stop extremists without killing the ideas which motivate them.

The world is sleeping. Just thinking about it pisses me off.
