Easier to love a dog than another human

It is much easier and safer to love a dog than to love another human.
When you love someone, you fear that the love is not returned or the other party has some hidden motives.
You do not have to worry about such things when you have a dog.
You know that your dog will love you unconditionally. You know that your dog will never leave you for another owner.
You do not hear of dogs forsaking owners. You only hear of owners selling or giving the dogs away.
Sometimes when owners abuse the dogs till unreasonable extent, the poor dog will endure as much as it can.

I think many people love their dogs more than their families.
When I read of rich people leaving the bulk of their inheritance to their pets, and always nothing much for their children, I have mixed feelings about it.
Apparently the children are not closed to their parents.
When rich people have money, and the only love is their pets, that is a very sad thing too.

It makes sense. But it is still sad to think about it. Perhaps today human beings are afraid being betrayed. And sometimes people take advantage of you so that they will make friends with you. It is just like that usually a millionaire will have quite a lot of friends.

I agree that dogs are always loyal to their owners and love them unconditionally. I remember when I had a dog, she loved my children as well.
But sometimes it's really sad to hear some people just throw their pets away whenever they don't want to take care of them anymore.

Yes, that is very irresponsible, and the pets get hurt as well.
I have read of people who adopt abused dogs, and the dogs take a long time to get over the abuse.
it is sad to hear of dogs having nightmares for months after getting away from the abusers.

Yes, you are very right that a canine is more faithful and loyal to his owner and loves him unconditionally, provided his owner takes due care of him. However, same cannot be said with authenticity and conviction about human beings. We may love another person, however there is no guarantee that our love will be returned.

@scheng1 - Yes, there are many unfortunate parents who are forced to live alone and their children do not take care of them. Family relations/ties are falling apart and children are forgetting their responsibilities towards their parents.

Many parents in the world experienced the bitterness when their children forsake them.
I think that is a very sad fact.
There is nothing much that we can do about it, though the law can force the children to pay the medical bills of the parents, but nobody can make the children love and respect their aged parents.

True, when people are desperate to get our help, they will call us, pester us, and try to say good things about us so that we feel good.
After they have gotten what they want, the most is just a simple Thank You, and after that, you do not hear from them anymore.

When you love someone, are you looking forward to the returning love from him or her? I think that's not a true love to some extent. Think about the love parents towards their children, they never expects them to return.

Many parents do expect their adult children to take care of them when they grow old.
It is a cultural thing as well as the right thing to do.
If we have a dog, we do not have such expectation.
Nobody will expect a dog to take care of them when they get sick.

A good hubby is not easy to find.
A good dog is easy to find.
That is the difference. You probably have many such friendships that have gone sour after a few years, or you experience love that is not returned when you deal with colleagues, or relatives.
This seldom happens to dogs.
It is a certainty that when you love a dog, the love is returned.

Human interaction is definitely needed, though we are wary when it comes to strangers.
It is a given that not all our kindness will be returned, and some good friends can betray us or cheat us out of our money.
That is why we have to be careful when dealing with humans, but the same caution needs not apply to dogs.

Actually everyone has bad experience with other humans. If they do not have, I wonder if they are humans at all.
Many children have bad encounters with other humans, both adults and children. They can tell you about other children who are selfish, and do not share their sweets, yet they are so sweet on those who have things to share.
That is why we grow up to differentiate between kindness and selfishness.
