Tired of Christmas

I have been tired of Christmas since before the season even started.
I don't hate Christmas. I do enjoy it. I've gone all out this year buying presents for my kids and the teachers and the kids' friends.
But I hate Christmas music. It's the same music year after year. Anytime a new artist comes out with Christmas music they sing all the old classics, never anything new. So you can hear jingle bells by a million different artists, but it's still jingle bells... I'm just sick of hearing jingle bells! Okay!
Christmas movies... now at least with the movies I will say there are quite a few more choices, but again, it's the same movies every year. Sure new ones come out sometimes, but they're not always very good... so when you sit down to watch Christmas movies as a family you're basically rewatching the same ones you saw last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. I seriously have no interest in watching the Polar Express again this year. I've seen it once a year since it came out, and I'm just tired of it. I also don't really want to see The Grinch.. again I've seen it every year for the past 15-16 years... just sick of it!
I'm not trying to be bah humbug about the whole thing... I'm just sick to death of the same ole thing and want something a bit different this year!

I like Christmas music. But not at Halloween time. Even my grocery store started playing Christmas music just after Halloween. Really? My son works at that grocery store he is about insane with the music.

Oh I know, that's the worst part.. Christmas is being shoved down your throat earlier and earlier every year! Even our radio stations started playing Christmas music long before Thanksgiving!
In the car I refuse to listen to Christmas music... but the radio is on at work and I can't avoid it there.

I love it all!! the sappy movies, the same old songs and all the hoopla that goes into the whole season. Maybe I lived at the North Pole in a former life

I always enjoyed christmas. And this year is going to be actually better than previous years. Mainly my kids will be with me, thats always a plus. And we are going to have a full house. Both for christmas eve and new years eve. I know what you mean about the music and movies. But sometimes I enjoy it.

Check the country singers and the young Christian Contemporary. There are some different non traditional songs in those genres.

I don't mind Christmas movies or Christmas carols, however, I didn't like the fact that Hallmark started their Christmas movies on Halloween. That is way to early, and I reuses to watch them that early. I have seen some new movies this year, and they were really good. I haven't been listening to all that much Christmas music though, as I do have some, but since I have been watching the movies, I just haven't been listening to the carols. We did sing some in church and I did enjoy that very much.

We are trying to come up with some holiday movies to watch as a family.. we've watched a couple on Netflix that were okay but not great.. I want some good ones to watch with the kids, but most of the good family movies we're sick of.

@katsmeow1213 It is so easy to get burned out on them, especially if you watch them over and over. There are some I have seen over and over too, and I wom't keep watching them unless i really like them, then I will watch them again. On the weekends, Hallmark has been putting brand new ones, and they have been very good.

I think Christmas is about tradition which is why I always watch several versions of a Christmas Carol and love Silent Night and O Christmas tree. It never get sold to me.

I have the tv on Christmas movies steady for weeks already. That is the TV in the bedroom so hubby doesn't have to be subjected to it. I love hearing all the music in the mall etc. But, I don't spend much time there. If I worked there I might get tired of it.

I agree completely. In fact, I opined about that last month. Even when we do get a new Christmas song it instantly becomes covered by a million people. Seriously! "Mary, Did You Know," which is only 16 years old, has been covered by at least 20 different major acts. Give us a break! Write your own dang Christmas songs (like Elton John's "Step Into Christmas")!!!

Do They Know It's Christmas isn't THAT old, but I heard a different rendition of it on the radio today, it sounded like Celine Dion. I agree... come up with your own or just don't do it!

I enjoy the Christmas music while it's here, it's only once a year. If I had to work in the place where they were playing it steady, I'm sure I'd get sick of it. I mostly listen on the radio, and my station has good taste, no barking dogs and so forth.

@katsmeow1213 I think it really got worse when I worked in retail and I had to hear that same CD over and over playing in the back ground in the store

I agree with you. I mean I don't feel the same. I actually don't mind the movies that they show or the music BUT I do agree that I'm pretty sick of the lack of originality. The same old classics being sung over and over in different ways by way too many artists. Would be nice to have something different.
