Bedtime Botch Up!

United Kingdom

I may have made a booboo, Vinnie was rubbing his eyes and seeming very tires at half three after refusing to sleep for his half 2 nap so I decided to put him down again and see if he would have a little nap. Now half 3 is late for a nap but not unheard of so I thought he might sleep until 5 and maybe have a slightly later night tonight. Well it is now half 5 and he is still in bed which is making me slightly concerned that he thinks it is bedtime and it going to stay in bed, he hasn't had his tea or his bedtime bottle. If he doesn't wake up by 7 I will sneak him in a bottle so he can have it if he wakes up hungry in the night. I am still hopeful that he will take up in the next half hour or so, but I won't wake him, waking a sleeping baby never ends well. Although while typing this I just rememered he isn't dressed for bed even he is in jeans and a T-Shirt he can't sleep all night in that. Oh now I don't know what to do . What would you do ? This picture is from his morning nap hence why he does have a bottle in it x

What does "tea" mean to the littlies? Do they actually have tea with much milk? Or something else?

@shellyjaneo Oh, I like it. I like learning how meals are described differently in different places. I know that afternoon "tea" is a UK tradition. Is it still?

Haha I am surprised you are the only one who picked up on that, no I don't give him tea as in the drink. I mean Supper/Dinner it's welsh thing I believe instead of Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner I say Breakfast/Dinner/Tea unless I am trying to be proper :) normally I try not to put things like that in my post so I don't confuse people but I was typing without thinking x

@TheHorse It is an old fashioned one but it is becoming more fashionable lately there are lots of little tea rooms opening here and there which is nice. We have two in my tiny little village. One is a traditional one that serves cakes and scones and sandwiches with your afternoon tea and the other one is a really modern one that does all japanese and international tea, I am not so fussed on that one. x

By the time you read this, your problems will all be resolved - or compounded. I would never give advice but - it won't really hurt if he sleeps in his jeans. I agree about never waking sleeping babies and whatever routine a baby adopts it only lasts a very short time before he changes it and adopts another. I can remember being so unsure about my own first baby - and not much better with the second - but they survived despite me!

I left him to sleep in the end and he woke up at 8pm had some food and a bath then went back to bed at 9.30pm. He did have a wobble at 3.30am-4.30am where he thought it was time to get up but then gave up and went back to sleep until 8am (by that time I was in work, Daddy day today). When I got home from work at 4pm he was in bed (to my horror) he woke up at 6pm then had some food and went back to bed at 7pm so hopefully he may be closer to normal tonight fingers crossed. Although it has already been agreed I am sleeping in the spare room without the monitor so I can have a full night's sleep. Daddy is having the monitor in with him as he is off work again tomorrow :) x

@shellyjaneo In our day kids had to yell loud enough to wake us as there were no monitors. They were always close by and maybe we all learnt to sleep with one ear open - how you actually do that I don't quite know. :)

@shellyjaneo He is adorable. No help from me. I have never had little kids and I don't remember what mom did with me. I do know one thing she told me. When she had friends over and I started crying she would take my pacifier and dip the tip in a tiny bit of honey. I would be quiet while the sweetness was in my mouth.

He's so little and he's been sick. I'd let him sleep but be ready to get up in the night if he wakes up...There is no good answer, you are the mother, its you call.

I let him sleep and he woke at 8pm. He went back down at 9pm. I was up with him from 3.30-4.30 but it wasn't' as bad as I thought it could be. I wouldn't normally wake him up anyway but even more so as he is still getting over being poorly. He had another late nap today but it wasn't so bad so hopefully it will be ok tonight x

Sleeping in day clothes is OK occasionally. The "Jammies Police" are on vacation.
