Losing weight is about how you eat rather than what you eat

Losing weight is about how you eat rather than what you eat. If you love fried chicken wings, you know that it is not a good choice when you want to lose weight. That does not mean you cannot eat chicken wings. You have to change the cooking method. You can boil the chicken wings in hot water, and add some herbs, and vegetables into the water to make nutritious soup. You still get to eat the chicken wings. When you crave for chocolate, you can eat chocolate without sugar and milk. In this way, you get to enjoy life and lose weight. There is no need to change the things you eat as long as you change the cooking method. If possible, adopt the way the Japanese eats their food. They have raw fish, shrimps, and other seafood in the form of sashimi. That is a very healthy way of eating as long as the meat is fresh.

I wouldn't eat chicken if it's not fried. And chocolate with no sugar and milk might as well not be chocolate. IMHO, we can eat what we want but it has to be in moderation. It's the binging and pigging out that will result in weight gain. If one were to eat slowly and savor every bite and take the time to enjoy the food, one can control one's weight.

Are you sure about the chicken? In this case, you miss out on many nice chicken dishes, such as curry chicken, and chicken rice. I like chicken herbal soup, and I like the Campbell soup of chicken too.

I'm sorry--you mean well but you don't have the brain of a fat person!! I don't care how you cook those wings a fat person will NOT stop at! Besides if you don't take the skin off the wings when you boil them the fat from the skin will get into the meat. Chocolate without sugar??? Then it is not chocolate. Raw fish? Raw shrimp? Raw seafood? Like it or not a fat person will always choose the fried seafood or have the raw as an appetizer and then have seafood rolls with a lot of sauce. You have to learn how a fat person thinks--sure 'just move away from the table' sounds great but as they move away they take the table with them!

@IvySaysHi I agree with @troyburns that you may have misunderstood Martin. He has fought a weight problem most of his life as I have. He wasn't meaning to be insulting to anyone. And yes, he does love food

This is kind of ignorant sounding. I understand that you mean someone without the slightest idea of how someone who can't control their eating thinks that they shouldn't think that it is easy to just walk away from food, but the way you put it is insulting.

@IvySaysHi - I think you may have misconstrued Martin's tone. He's being satirical here, although to be fair, he really does love good food.

Yes, I agree with this. Moreover, I think if one just keeps not eating proper or much lesser food for long time, but eats a lot of unhealthy food at one time as a reward, this shouldn't be good for the health as well. I have seen some people doing this.

@scheng1 Yes, moreover I believe if we want to make a change, we can always do it, no matter what eating habit we have for many years.

I think those who keep on eating junk food are always craving for more junk food. They are not getting enough nutrients and their bodies simply make them crave for more food. If we eat proper healthy meals, it is unlikely that we get hungry easily or to have craving for more food.

I can eat a lot when the food is tasteful. But no matter how many I eat, I will not grow more weights. Perhaps it is because I eat slowly. I wonder whether eating slowing is a main factor for the weight. I am thin even after so many years later.

I think you are very active, that is why you do not gain weight. Perhaps the other reason is the food that you eat. Chinese food tends to have less sugars. Hardly anyone adds sugar to the food, unlike many western dishes. When you have sugar in the coffee, and sugar in the ice cream or cakes, and the main dish is deep fried chicken wings, that is way too much sugars and fats in a single meal. Chinese meals are accompanied by unsweetened tea, so there is less likelihood of gaining weight.

@scheng1 I rather to say I think a lot. My mind is always running even if when I am walking. Perhaps this also makes me to be skinny. And of course it also relates to my family, too. My dad is thin and it is likely I am thin because of it.

I can't eat like the Japanese. I can't swallow raw seafoods at all but I've always been an advocate of healthy eating.

@scheng1 I might not eat all raw seafood, but I like raw salmon and shrimps, especially dip into wasabi.

Actually the funny thing is that raw seafood does not taste like raw food. If you have a chance to try out sashimi, you can take the salmon. It tastes great, especially when it is still cold.

A great explanation. In this way we can eat anything and manage our health without diseases. I'm not fat, but I like my body shape and try to keep it for long time.So I eat some fruits behalf my dinner at least two days per week.

I eat fruits every day, but not at every meal, and not as substitute for a meal. I like to have fruits during an extremely hot day. If not, then the fruits will come after dinner.

I will not eat the fish or the meats raw, you surely know that even if very fresh they can be dangerous. Anyway it's true that steaming or boiling food instead of frying makes a lot of difference.

Many restaurants are good at handling raw fish and other seafood. The raw fish or seafood are deep frozen to kill all the germs, and once they are taken out of the freezer, they are served to the customers. That is why sashimi is usually quite cold.

@scheng1 This is the right way to go, unfortunately not all the restaurants deep freeze the fish for the necessary time to kill the worms and germs.

I have learned that what works for me is portion control. If I measure and eat the appropriate portion, I will lose weight.

Sometimes it is the sequence of eating too. Some people have fruits before main course, and after eating a lot of fruits, they hardly have the appetite to finish the main course. That is one way. Some people like to drink soup that will fill their stomach, and curb their appetite. Whatever works!
