Is this what our economy coming to? That we can no longer find chocolate coins for Hanukkah, but we can find this little bars of chocolate, about 2 x 1 inch, and wrapped in bills instead of coins? Oh well, my son loves this chocolate better and we had a great time playing dreidel many times this year.

We probably have some here in America, but I live in a small town in a smaller community, so if they don't have the demand, the supply will disappear.

@Carmelanirel2 You mean that you live in the wealthy area where people are not accustomed to using coins.

@Asylum No, in an area that doesn't observe Hanukkah, though the community I live in is affluent, there are poor areas in the county.

@petiksmdoe47 True, but it is best to have many little pieces for the dreidel game, though my son would love it if I had dozens of full size candy bars instead. lol

Hi @AmbiePam how are you doing? How is your one eye healing up? Are you going to be able to be more active now? I missed you and unless you are online right now, I probably won't be here again until Sunday evening.
As for the chocolate, I haven't seen these before either, and truthfully, these taste better than the coins.

I haven't seen this kind of delicate chocolate .Are chocolate coins essential for Hanukkah?

@Carmelanirel2 I think you got a real kick out of playing the game of dreidel -I know it is a top with a Hebrew letter on each of its four sides by searching it online .

@changjiangzhibin89 I wouldn't want to play against you, for some reason I think you would win every time.

Not essential, but it makes the game of dreidel more exciting to pretend to have money to put into the middle. Some people use peanuts or raisins, but I always liked the chocolate coins. (you know me and my sweet tooth)

I don't know because like one member said below, it was something stuffed into stockings for Christmas, I remember getting them myself. Then when my neighbor used them for her children for Hanukkah, I wonder what these coins were originally made for. Now you got my curiosity, I am going to research that.

Hey, Hanukkah was the first holiday to use these coins. This is what I found:
Welcome To The Chocolate Coins Chocolate coins make excellent holiday favors If there is one food that no one can resist, adults and children alike, it’s chocolate! Bitter, sweet, milk, liquorices – whatever the flavor, color or shape, there’s always a rea

@Carmelanirel2 It looks like we both learned something. I didn't know that the coins were first used for Hanukkah.

@Carmelanirel2 i would love it, too, because i like chocolate with rice crispies, but yeah, why is it green with a dollar design?
growing up, i remember chocolate coins around christmas (round flat chocolate wrapped in gold foil). i think stores here still sell them.

@hereandthere Because I guess they are creating mini dollars for the children to use.

I think my son likes these better because they have the crispie rice, like nestle's Crunch.
