Los Angeles Schools Closed And Under Threat

An unspecified threat has been made to "many schools" and they are all closed.
Right now I am reading an excellent book by Jon Atack about cult recruitment. He discusses the radicalization of young people in England and how these Islamic cult leaders set themselves up and inspire their followers to die for the cause, and it's all about killing.
So sad!
"opening minds: the secret world of manipulation, undue influence and brainwashing" is fascinating. The use of hypnotic processes is -- creepy. No informed consent, naturally.
We'll gradually find out why tens of thousands of children and their parents have been disrupted today.
Update: it is a nation wide threat and is most likely a hoax. Here, 1100 campuses and 700,000 kids involved.

I hope that threat was a hoax by some sophomore getting out of a test.

@TheHorse About 630,000, but it turns out it was sent from Germany. In NYC, the email spelled "Allah" with a small A, so that was a clue to the hoax. Tough call either way.

Brain washing and the way these finatics go about it is amazing. One thing they want to do is put fear into our every day lives. They seem to be succeeding.

It is so ridiculous and of course those radical leaders aren't recruiting their own children are they? Or why not just blow themselves up instead of gullible kids?

Understandable that authorities would take the threat seriously, but in this climate advance warning is almost unheard of. I know Jon Atack from his books about Scientology, but I didn't realize he had extended his analysis of cult behavior to radical Islam.

I have read Steve Hassan and Rick Ross' discussions of political cults too. And in John Le Carre's The Little Drummer Girl (early 70's) the story describes the insidious recruitment of a young unhappy Londoner into an Islamic cult.
