XP expired - What One Month W/O Tech Taught Me

Oyie! I am the world's worst about keeping my techy gadgets current. Partly it's the price - newer items are always more expensive & newer models aren't always packed with enough innovative features to warrant the price!
So.... there I was - April of 2013 - I had just quit teaching (suddenly & abruptly) and decided to cast my fate to the internet winds. No sooner had I done so than XP had been discarded by Mockrosoft. (intentional misspelling) and I was faced with not only having to up grade my OS - but also my system, which was already 6 years out of date tech wise. (and slow as snails too!) -- all of which would have been a huge expense!
So -
For over two years - I nurtured my online biz while I made do with the equipment I had. Finally the entire system crashed. I was without a PC for a month. A whole MONTH. Can you imaging running your internet biz from a smartphone? Well - maybe its' possible with a smarterphone than I have - but I did manage to scrape by. And I certainly learned the importance of not only saving and waiting - but also for planning and *do*ing the upgrades necessary!
Now - I'm typing this from my new PC - because I waited - I was able to afford better equipment & choose the style of gear - mostly being wireless. I love the freedom of having mobile keyboards, mouse, & speakers. Now if only I can get the monitor mounted to the wall now.....
Thankful for many blessings this #SeasonofGratitude

I took my CPU to get a new fan installed and add another hard drive and the guy said "Wait, you are still running Win98 ?" That was back in 2003ish. Hey, that platform had no problems and never crashed on me. He tried to get me to upgrade and even offered me a 'free' upgrade but I declined. If it ain't broke, don't fiddle with it.

Agreed! I should have been more careful with mine - too many dirty viruses picked up on the web and my laptop wasn't "expandable" ie didn't have the extra fittings for extra chips. Live & Learn!
