How many posts do you add in one day?

Every day, it seems there are new people writing on blogs or other sites, each interested in publishing all their thoughts about life, the universe and everything else. Some writers that seem to have plenty of free time and frequently publish tons of thoughts in a single day.
Is that you?
MyLot is different because posts are short and social in nature, but for blogs or general writing sites I have to wonder the value of posting many times.
How many times do you post? and... Do you spend time promoting your posts on social media? How many comments do you post?
Take a look at the associated article on Two Drops of Ink:
Some writers catch the posting bug and want to hit "Publish" dozens of times in the day, but should they?

It is easier to write a comment than a substantive post, that said though we should always be concerned about the quality of the language we use.

@pgiblett On this site, the most important is to interact, not to write plenty of posts and wait. We are not required to write a minimum of posts and, to be honest, I prefer few articles well written than dozens of nonsense articles by the same user all submitted at the same time of the day.

If you mean discussions then I do very few.
Responses/ comments I just post when I see something i'm interested in, i don't keep count at all.

@Mike197602 I like to spend my free time writing, but to write well you must also read. I am curious about how many active members MyLot has. I joined when the site was buzzing with members, but was not active for quite a while. Now the pay rate is a little better but less activity. (or maybe that is an impression of a few days activity).

I don't promote my discussions anywhere...just live and die by the interest of members here.
I spend 90% of my time here purely reading.

@pgiblett I joined the old site a few years ago now.
Stayed for a short while after new owners stopped the money and membership dropped.
now i've been back for a week or so.
No idea whatsoever how many active members the site has, i'm nowhere near as active as I used to be.
To be honest i think it's slower but i'm finding the quality of posts has gone up quite a bit...i'm coming across members I can spend a whole evening on their discussions.
I really like members who make a discussion then stay on it and make it great and there are a few on here

This is the only site I'm on at the moment. I have a lot of articles on Infobarrel but haven't contributed there for ages. Three posts is usually the maximum I put here but mostly two. I spend a couple of hours reading and commenting but I wouldn't know how many. I could watch the stats I guess but I don't bother. I don't think it pays to put a lot of posts on here in a day. It's the interaction that earns the money not the number of posts.

Judy, I think you prove a supposition that I have - reading and commenting are more powerful than posting alone.

@ivyparkgirl I think some might make some money. Choosing the right topics help. I make a little money there. My topics aren't particularly popular but I have a lot of them so every few months I get a payout. I posted one a while ago but before that I hadn't posted for probably 12 months.

@ivyparkgirl I don't post much only when something comes to mind. I like to comment more.

@infatuatedbby and @ivyparkgirl: With the majority of income coming from interactions it seems to me best to find a conversation which moves a long for several days and keep interacting. Yesterday I say several posts that had no responses many hours after they were created, not good.

I post something when the mood strikes me. And I comment a lot.

Mood is important. I have seen posts that don't interest me and will not go near these and I guess some days mood drives selection.

I publish more posts than many users here in Mylot, but that comes with a price of not having much time to read and comment on many discussion threads.
Some users do not have much discussion threads, but they spend a lot of time searching for interesting threads.
It is just a matter of trade-off, and you have to decide on the strategy to earn.

@scheng1 I would like to make a suggestion. STOP POSTING! START COMMENTING! My investigations have shown that by commenting on other people's material you are interacting with them and you start to make them trust you and the things you have to say. They may not agree with everything you say but they start to know that you are human.

@buttheadface932 Yes that is true MyLot is about interactions rather than posts. I guess there is also a lot of value in the responses and comments, which is why I think this can be a great place to explore new ideas.
I have been thinking about this for a little while now and have to say that for a writer the greatest challenge is face a blank page or come to a dead halt on...

@pgiblett Yes, I have read that when you interact rather than simply post, it is better for the site.

Sometimes three at other times four, usually one or two and quite often none. :) Much depends upon what goes on in my mind. :) I have to feel passionately about something to come up with a post. As to comments, I come up with several in a day. There, it is often just fun time.

Excellent very thought provoking #2 Dominate your topic caught my eye. What does that even mean I wondered. Certainly a post demands our attention before, during write up and after so turning the out too rapidly might not be a good idea. Some people use rapid fire but they resort to twitter which is really not posting but accepted by many.

@pgiblett It doesn't matter on my blog if I post one once a month or one every five minutes because no one reads it.
I suppose even twitter which I've never used is in order to be effective requires some interaction. Yes, social sites do require responses to be one. I was wondering why you choose the word dominate as it struck me as competitive that's all.

@Bluedoll I have found that on Wikinut, if I post new material it will get 400 or 500 additional hits on the first couple of days it is published, then I can sustain this for a week of two by social media effort, but on my blog it will produce about 20 or 30 new views - a curious effect, but I guess it is the specialist nature of my blog that matters.
For a blog social media, keywords and other things are essential for success.

I wrote this because I see the same problem here people put up loads of posts and don't spend enough time following up on the responses to them. What is the point of putting up 15 discussions if you never respond to anyone?

My blog is like my online diary. I only post when I have something interesting to write. But it's different if you do it for a living. You need to write new stuff everyday. I love reading blogs and posting comments. I think it's better than being glued to facebook the whole day.

@olivetree27 It is true many people over-share information, especially private innermost secrets, when they should be aware of the potential for cyber stalking.

@olivetree27 it is interesting that you should bring up journals, that was the original idea behind the blog, but of course they have developed much from those original days. I write seriously on several sites (not all paid), but it is the idea of being able to provide a thought of the moment that is what brings me to MyLot.

@pgiblett I also have a journal which I update everyday. Since, I'm working with computers, I decided to write my thoughts in a blog too but I'm very careful about what I share. I meet a lot of friends through blogging and I love reading their comments and ideas. I love sharing my thoughts and ideas too about interesting topics that's why I love Mylot and blogging. You can read useful insights unlike facebook that has become, well, a rumbling site ( it depends what kind of friends you have but I have the worse kind) and most people are oversharing information. There's no room for intellectual and friendly discussion. I'm glad you enjoy writing and sharing ideas. I write to share my thoughts too and to practice my writing skills but I'll be happy if I could earn some extra bucks out of it.

I understand that sentiment and have been there. I also have to say that I never understand the year-end rush, to my mind if the company has followed processes all year then the year end takes care of itself (unless you are talking about extra orders which is always tough but rewarding). it is all a matter of time.

When I do get on here, I try to post 1 discussion for myself. I mostly lurk around and put in my 2 cents though.

I don't post a whole lot on Facebook--particularly not personal stuff. As for sites like these, I try to post as much as I can, and I try to post creative things as much as I can. Sometimes though, life just gets in the way, or, like yesterday, my mind/body isn't cooperating.

It depends on the day, and how busy I am. Most times I am more active here on MyLot. I tend to post anywhere from 1 - 10 posts. I will then go and answer to others posts as well.

I think that some people post many times a day to promote their writing as for the reason it could be just to simply get a larger fan base or it could be to earn money that comes from people noticing your work and follow you on all platforms then like and share causing you to earn for all the views, comments and likes. As for me i try to post at least one a day

Tere is one writer that believes that the more times you press "Publish" the lower your Blog;s readership. I rarely post more than once on any site per day. My readership has been steadily rising. Nowadays it doesn't surprise me to have 1,000 people viewing a post in a day when at one time it would have given me a heart attack.

@pgiblett Too many causes some to be missed because the post gets pushed down by the new ones and other times its too much for a reader to choose from so I don't recommend publishing more than ten a day i think 5/6 max for a day depending on what it is you blog about. Too little and it doesn't give the readers much to choose from to read. I guess it is something each individual has to decide which works best for them based on their blog.

I post sometimes on Mylot, just when I have an opinions to share or sometimes, i just read around a little, scroll down to see which topic can I discuss on, if yes then comment. Writing blogs is good habit, but need to stay this for a long time. Keep the habit, then explore things around the internet to support for life and work. yeap. that's it

@anh101 I wanted to let you know that Wikinut has not closed. New writers can join once again in the new year, but you should be aware that the site has changed and is no longer paying writers. I am one of the moderators on Wikinut, a role I will continue in.
I am a writer and I am trying to earn a living writing and editing.
