Hello everyone! When I am driving my car to for a long journey, after some time I feel like sitting on passenger’s seat (besides driver’s seat) and when I am sitting at passenger’s seat, and someone else is driving, after some time I start feeling that I should be sitting on Driver’s seat so that I could drive. Does such flip flop occurs with you too, while riding or driving a four wheeler?

@SIMPLYD - Being a passenger is better than being a driver. You should advise your hubby to keep a check on speed because higher speed could land us in trouble not because we are not concentrating but due to fault or carelessness of other driver(s).

You better be a passenger in a car because if you attempt to drive and get nervous seeing a big car in heavy traffic, you may find it difficult to navigate and it could cause even accident.

Dunno because I don't know how to drive and I don't usually occupy the passenger seat, but I am happy to be the passenger. Driving for a long time is exhausting, isn't it?

So you have yet to learn drive. I can understand that you like to be a passenger because driving is really exhausting and it could put pressure on our mind. One needs high level of concentration while driving. You are well aware about the heavy traffic in the Metro cities, so it becomes all the more difficult to drive in metro cities. PS - Hope you are doing fine.

@ria1606roy - Yes, there is no harm in learning driving. If you know driving, you could drive in case of an emergency/need. You could learn it during your vacation. However, you need to practice it to gain confidence on Kolkatta roads. Hope you would have done well in your exams and you will come out with flying colours. I was on sabbatical and was away to Bangalore, so I could not logged into mylot for the last few days.

It's a human nature :) We always long for the opposite Like I am short and I wish I am tall .. My tall friend wishes to be short. When I cook, I wish someone else cooks for me. When I am served a food, I wish I did the cooking. When my hair was short iI wanted it to grow fast.. now that my hair is long .. i want to cut it short .. and the never ending list

Yes, you are very right that it is human nature that we long for what we do not have.. You have given some excellent examples which hold true for all of us. When we are short in height, we want to be long and vice versa. When we are at a hilltop, we want to be on the ground and when we are at ground, we want to be on top.

I drive so fast and I was once questioned if having a driver's license. This happens not because I am in a hurry, but during a long trip.Sometimes I run to reach the place if I am in the vicinity in our campus. Our campus is so big and wide, so every time I changed schedule and the next room is quiet far, I run.

Driving at a high speed could sometime turn out to be a risky. It would be better to leave 5-10 minutes early for your destination rather than hurry for your destination. How big is your campus?

@dpk262006 My campus has 6 hectares in size with a population of 13,000 college students only with 92 courses.Actually, I learned a lesson out of my action when my niece met an accident last year. Her car hit a hard cemented wall in the Muslim area in Mindanao for a reason of making a detour. That Muslim did not give way and the road is a 2 lane road , she was driving fast, so to avoid hitting that Muslim she made a fast U-Turn only to hit that hard cemented wall. She was hospitalized and her arm was cemented. She is back to driving now and promises not to drive fast.I also lowered my speed.

Driving is not a silly job. carefulness , patience need for that job. In a trip everyone can sleep except the driver. So I think its a good job than a hobby.

you this type of feeling do come in my mind too. But the much more strong thought that is coming in my mind is that soon your this type of flip flop will occur alternately. Seriously jokes apart what do you think about delhi government formula regarding odd even car controlling the pollution is going to work or not and how is the response of people of delhi about this formula.

Nice to hear that you also face this kind of flip flop. In brief I would say that the decision to implement odd and even formula has yet to be given final shape and the one who uses his car to go to his work place has not appreciated the move of the Delhi Government.

It means you have great confidence on your own driving and you prefer to drive rather than be a passenger, until and unless you are pretty sure about the other person's ability to drive. It would be advisable to listen to music at an appropriate volume, loud volume could distract us from driving.

No, I rather take bus so that I can sleep while the driver is driving. It is more comfortable in a bus when traveling long distance. A car is too cramped, and I will feel the need to stop and take a walk to get the blood circulated.

You're not interested in driving a car and moreover you do not want to travel long distances in car even as a passenger. No doubt buses are much bigger and safer than cars to travel.
