Do You Enjoy Mind Numbing Simplistic and Banal myLot Posts

MyLot serves different purposes for different people. The guidelines are loose, which on one hand is good. However, I notice that sometimes people make a simple statement or ask a simple question in one sentence or less. Usually, it is of mind numbing simplicity that is seemingly designed to earn some quick coins. What saddens me is that people interact with this sort of behavior. Not only do these sorts of posts take up valuable myLot real estate in the various "Explore" sections and beyond, they would seem to also siphon off potential earnings of folks that are generally using myLot for genuine purposes. If these sorts of posts are allowed top exist, I fear for myLot, because soon people will over flow the floodgates with this sort of nonsense. If you want myLot to be "Your Lot" and "Our Lot, it is time to spot these sorts of posts and instead of interacting with them, report them. If you are unsure, it's okay to err on the side of caution the first time and assist them if you feel it is necessary, but once it is apparent that they are not listening and only there to game the system, counter their rinse, spit and repeat with your own cease, desist and report.

I agree - I like a post to have a bit of 'meat' about it. Something to show that the poster has put some thought into it.

@jaboUK thank you for comment. Do think posts that say something like: Fast cars today-Great News or I want big money-please advise are posts that should remain on myLot?

They should be reported. Unfortunately the people who respond to those one liners aren't going to read this discussion or even care about it.

@AbbyGreenhill yes they should. The more I look, the more I see. @GoAskAlice maybe starting to get overwhelmed with the drivel that is getting in now.

@AbbyGreenhill maybe, but at least I can say that I did my part. @Destry has showed me some one line posts that were reported, yet remain standing. I'm concerned that @GoAskAlice maybe overtaxed with trying to deal with this issue. That would be a shame, because if allowed to continue, this sort of content can ruin a site.

We have all seen such nonsense posted at times, but they either learn or soon leave due to lack of activity. I actually came across a new member yesterday who had 4 discussions posted, each one of which had basic 4 or 5 word content. This person had obviously never read the guidelines or even looked at any other discussions.

@Asylum true, but they do occupy space in the various "Explore" sections that could be better filled with legitimate pieces.

@HanVanMeegerin Very true because the ones that I saw could not be considered discussions by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm happy for people to write what they want - but I don't have to read it.

@HanVanMeegerin no I don't agree with that but plenty of legal posts are not very exciting.

@boiboing even it breaks the rules and hurts myLot?

I always offer assistance the first time I notice some one violating the rules, ie, sending them a link with the guidelines - but after that I am highly critical. If people can't take advice and guidance the first time around, I am buggered if I am repeating myself. I have been called a "bad apple" by someone who is quite well known and respected here because I don't suffer fools lightly. It is not difficult for people to read and follow the guidelines. I do think that the guidelines need to be re-written in a way that eliminates ambiguity over wording. What is little or no value, and by who's standards. Where is the line between a mindless poll and a mindful poll? As for the one liners, I wish there was a minimum word count to be able to post. Not a lot, but atleast it may prompt people to write something of value instead of the wibble that seems to be rife amongst this site!

@HanVanMeegerin Thats true - with such flexible guidelines, and not strict rules it is easy to find the gaps!

I don't mind short posts as long as they can get a discussion going.

I have been reading discussions mentioning about the spammers or rule breakers. I really appreciate those who reported them and share this with us. I guess I am always reading from those I already know who write great discussions, and haven't explore more yet, hence I don't get to read those discussions you mentioned with just a few words. Yes, I'd like mylot to stay as mylot, and a friendly community, that's why I am here. I will join to report them if I manage to find any.

Most of us put thought and time into being here so the people who do the one liners should most definitely be reported.

@LovingMyBabies thank you for youur comment. I believe these folks will be the downfall of Bubblews unless they can be eradicated from the site.

So far I haven't found any one liners. I won't comment or like on such a discussion if I should run into one.
