No White Christmas for Australia

Vince set up this photo for his Facebook photo group friends and I thought it was a nice Christmassy picture. It features candles which we've had for some years and which some of you will have seen before. We left them too near the ceiling one very hot summer and they all drooped. But we kind of liked them and we've kept them. The candle holder was given to us by our boys for our 25th wedding anniversary so has special significance too. I hope this Christmas won't be as hot.

We had a big roast dinner then plum pudding last night with some friends but on the big day it will be cold meats and salads - tiny bits of everything - except lots of watermelon!!

You live in the southern hemisphere as I do. There are good and bad things about it. But I prefer to see snow in a post card than at my door step at this time of my life. The candles are lovely, I would keep them too.

@JudyEv I loved a white Chistmas I spent in the US when I was 13. Now, at 70, my bones donĀ“t like cold.

Of course for us Northern Hemisphere people it does seem so strange to have Christmas in the summer heat lol It is a very interesting picture.

@JudyEv Yes I can imagine it was a cultural shock for the ancestors who first came from the British Isles.

I would think it would be neat to celebrate Christmas in the summer time as you do. I really hope to visit Australia sometime.

There is no white Christmas here in Canada this year either it seems. Kind of sad that there won't be any snow for Christmas.

It must be nice to see the snow falling when you're safe and cosy inside.

I guess that is 40F? We expect 40C sometime during our summer - but hopefully not on Christmas Day.

I love those candles! They are so original and they certainly hold memories for you so you did right not to discard them

I don't think I'd last very long shovelling snow.

I thought the candles were supposed to look like that, they look so much like candy canes in the picture. I can't imagine a hot Christmas, but I live in an area that is usually pretty cold this time of year. We had a brown Christmas last year and it just didn't seem like Christmas here. I don't think I would mind a green Christmas though.

We've always had Christmas In Australia so we don't know any other sort of Christmas. But while we were children most of the Christmas cards and wrapping paper showed snow, sleighs and pine trees.
