What's been your experience with InfoBarrel?

I've always tried to have some diversity in the sites on which I post articles. I started with HubPages, and it remains my main outlet. I also wrote for Yahoo Voices, which folded in 2014. Ever since I've been looking for a quality site on which to publish the types of articles I used to post at Yahoo. A site that I've heard both some positives and negatives about is InfoBarrel. Actually, I've heard more negatives than positives, and so have really struggled with the idea of opening an account there. I'd like to have some input from writers who use InfoBarrel. Would you recommend the site? What kinds of challenges have you had as a writer there? Do you get views and do you make any money? I'd love to hear your honest opinion.

I can't believe it! I've just this minute posted an article there - my first since July 2014! I have over 600 articles there and get a payment from them several times a year despite my lack of input. I like the site. If you write about things people like to read about I think it does fine. My articles aren't particularly popular so I don't get too many views. But I can write longer, more serious stuff there so I intend going back there more often. This site gets very quiet from time to time. I haven't really had any challenges, there is plenty of help available but I don't know about the money side. I don't think you make much anywhere nowadays. London Brokers is another but it takes a while to get the hang of things there. Deborah-Dian is another one who is quite prominent there. Maybe PM her.

Thanks, @JudyEv. That's good info. I'd be curious to know about how many words your InfoBarrel articles average. My Yahoo articles probably averaged about 800 words.

@JudyEv Why contests? In the past I have earned from my writing by making it accessible via social media. I am not really into contests.

Never heard of them before. I guess you have to try and see if you would like it over there.

I had never heard on InfoBarrel before about a week ago. One of the challenges with the site is the website will not tell me about itself I want more information before signing up. The articles I have seen look OK but they may not be representative. I am looking for another site that pays at the moment.

There are other websites, but most of them discontinued their revenue share program, so I assume Infobarrel is at the moment the only website worth contributing to.

@jstory07 and @BellaDoc, IB is a revenue share writing site somewhat along the lines of HubPages.

@whiteream As everyone who was on Bubblews can testify, when a site's admin won't communicate with you that's a major red flag! Thanks for alerting me to that.

I guess that means you didn't find it worthwhile to post there. That says something.

If you are a serious writer, I do recommend Infobarrel. There are writers who make several thousand dollars there. At least Infobarrel has proven its ability to pay for years. It is better for you to write for an established site than new site.
