Grapefruit Juice

I love grapefruit juice but I don't drink it real often. I'm drinking a big handled mug of it now. When I was working, there was this craze that when we drank grapefruit juice before we went to supper we would lose weight. Well I did lose about 17 pounds in about two months. I read in later years that grapefruit didn't have any weight loss properties to it. Well I'm drinking some now and will drink it to see if it works.

They do say that grapefruit and grapefruit juice will help you lose weight. Anything that fills up some of the space and is low calorie will help you lose. I like grapefruit juice, though.

I know. I used to take care of this aging doctor in home health care and ge said it worked. But he was very old and I was just in nursing school in 1978. Now they say yes and no.

The acidics aren't good for us I guess. Alkaline all the way. But, if this made me think of something I learned from my mum. She would mix grapefruit juice and pineapple juice. Now you can add as much as you like but usually do about 50-50. So that way you can add a little more sweet if you like. I just like sweet and sour together.

I've got mine mixed with orange juice right now. I may use pineapple juice next time. I think I have some. I got 9 quarts of juice when I got paid.

unless you are taking cholesterol medicine, then it can interfere with the medication... personally I hate grapefruit and won't touch the stuff... A friend kept saying "this is sweet! this is sweet!" Yeah, sweet wasn't the problem, GRAPEFRUIT was the problem!

I know. That's what I learned later in life. I don't know why it worked unless it curbed my hunger.

I bet that does help. It seems low in sugar and more tart and bitter. I love the bitter taste. It's so clean feeling in my mouth.

17lbs?! that's really good and that's from a little juice. Keep it up. Like someone had mentioned. If fills your stomach up so there's less room for food. The juice does replenish some digestive enzymes (mainly lemons). There are good sugars in pineapple juice that replenishes liver glycogen and creates an insulin spike making you not as hungry and suppresses your cravings for sweats. Now, if you don't make your own juice from the fruit then your getting added sugar regardless of how you look at it. And if you abuse that you might as be eating more.
