A few months ago I gave up my cell phone and believe it or not I haven't been a bit sorry. Do I miss not having it? No I don't. Do I want it back. Not at this time, maybe some day. I was getting so tired of being able to be reached at any time. Now people have to call on my land line. It's not that I don't like talking to people, it's just that I need some peace every now and then. Would you be able to give up your cell phone? Believe me, it's nice and quiet driving down the road without a phone ringing in your ear. I don't miss it at all.

I am surprised to hear that you can give up your cellphone. I am unable to do so. The cellphone is quite important for me today. Even if I don't have to make a call, I still need to get online. Such as sometimes I need to use GPS to guide me. I need to call a taxi from an app like Uber. I can't imagine my life without a cellphone.

@youless I found that I am either home or at work most of my time. I will probably get another one someday but for now I am happy to do without.

I do carry my cell phone in my purse when I go somewhere but it is only for calling out. I told everyone to call me on the land line.

I still need my cellphone, but I do not need a smartphone. I think you can get a prepaid phone if you need to contact anyone when you are outside. Once you have contacted the person, you can switch off the phone, so that usage does not remain high, and you can stretch your dollar.

I have a cell phone, and I use it everyday, as it is the only phone that I have. I talk to my daughter everyday, my ex husband, and my son somettimes. I leave my phone on, as my son wants to be able to get a hold of me if there is a problem or he needs me for something. I do leave it on, as a courtesy to him, as he does worry if I don't have it on, and he does need to call me for something. My daughter lives over 2000 miles from me, so I need my phone to talk to her, and we do text a lot too. I would be so lost without my cell phone, and I do take it with me when I go out.

@HazySue I gave my landline up and ketp my cell phone, as I can take that with me, and the landline phone I can't. I didn't want to have to pay for two phones, which didn't make any sense at all. I use my phone everyday, as I get calls everyday, and I use it for other things too as well, as I have lots of apps on it and I also use my phone to make money with too.

@rosekiss It really is a good idea to have a cell phone if you are away from home a lot. I am one of those who don't use a phone, cell or otherwise, for anything but talking.

@rosekiss I didn't use my cell phone to call people very much when I had it. My house phone is the one I typically would talk on.

We don't have a landline. But, I could easily give up my cell phone. it's not that big of a deal to me. I only use it when I need it. I have a very basic cell phone you can only take and get calls on it.

@whiteream if it weren't for the incoming calls I would not have been using my cell phone.

Would you believe I hate telephones, I find them awkward to talk on. I know, in this day and age, that makes me extremely weird. It used to drive my ex crazy, she loved to chat on the phone. Me, I prefer face to face conversations.

@Ketage I know they have their purpose and I know they are a necessity for emergencies but I am still not a great big fan of phones.

I am not a busy person either so my mobile do not give me much headache. Most of the time my phone is silent especially when I am in office my mobile is not reachable too. So living without my mobile is really possible for me.

For me, it's very diffcult to give up my cell phone. I need use cell phone to contact with my family, friend and collagues or someone else. Sometimes, I need use the phone to read the news and shopping online. Even I really do not want to spent many time on the phone, but it's had to refused the phone's charm

My cell phone is the only phone that I have. I probably should carry it, since I should be reachable if the school needs me to come get the kids, but I've gotten into the habit of leaving it home. I rarely use it anyway, so there's pretty much no point in bothering if you ask me.

@yukimori I now have a land line, I silence the ringer and see who is calling before I answer. The number or name comes up on the TV screen and the phone light blinks so I know someone is calling.

The cellphone is a necessity but on the other hand the drawback is it destroys your peaceful life.

@amnabas it is sort of a necessity but it is a pain too. I am usually with someone who has a cell phone.

I have never had one. Vince has one but we hardly use it. I can't bear the things but I understand that they are very useful. But stand around anywhere now and at least 70% of the people will be fiddling with their phones.

Even though I hardly use it, I like the idea of being able to reach help if I'm out on the road and break down. Stuff like that, so for now I keep it.
