I have been subscribigt to digital cable for as long as I can remember. Probably twenty years. The price has gone up considerably. About every three years they do an upgrade and the price goes up about $5 for about three months. Now we get internet, cable and our telephone from the same company. We are playing $200 now. But, we have high speed internet, telephone service where we call anywhere within the continental US and all the extras like caller ID, message and other things, and we have great cable with two DVRs. I think we get a pretty good deal. We have all the sports channels, History channel, NG, Hallmark, Bravo, PBS premium channels, several other movies channel(116 channels in all). Plus we have about a dozen music channels of all types. This is our entertainment. We don't go to the theater or anything. We have very good customer service and rarely does the cable go out or do we have any problems with it and if I do they come out for free. So what is your take on this? Do you think it is a good deal?

Not a good deal for me. I do have sky television but a fairly basic package which I never watch but my wife does. I have super high speed Broad band Our phone service is provided by yet another company and we get free anytime calls to around 42 countries around the world plus the UK. I rarely use the phone either but my wife seems to live on it in fact she becomes quite narked when I do actually use the phone. I guess in total my monthly bill is around $150

I like having it available and with the two DVRs our bill would probably be the same.

were paying fifty dollars for the combined internet and telephone connection and a separate 11 dollars for the cable that doesn't have much cool channels to begin with. I still think what you have is a nice deal, better not change subscription for now.

It is the only bill I truly grudge paying. I most likely will cancel the contract after the first of the year. I refuse to pay so much and we can little afford it.

When I did have satellite I was paying about $150 for just that. I eventually cancelled it due to the cost of it, and the amount I pay for it. Internet is about $50 a month, and my cellphone is about $100 a month.

With the satellite don't you have to have the dish out on the house? We aren't allowed that here. In our apartment anyway.

@celticeagle Yes, you need the dish. We can't get anything else here so it's satellite or nothing.

Oh, I sure do use it all. Even Netflix although it is basically for my grandson. I have about 116 channels and probably watch about 50 of them. The rest are sports, educational, religion and such that I don't care for.

I have time warner cable and we pay for internet, phone and cable we pay 185 a month for it. It definitely is expensive but we've never had issues with them. Where I live it's hard to get certain providers as i'm in the country.

No one in my household watches tv, so I just subscribe to Netflix and Hulu.
But if you're using all that and since it's entertainment go for it!

I subscribe to Netflix mostly for my grandson who lives here. So it is nice. It is our only form of entertainment, yes.

200 for all that, when you mark in the premiums, and 2 tv boxes, that is a good deal for those prices. I know what a new customer would pay from my company (one of the top 10 biggies, nope will not mention which one online ever), and that's not bad considered the premiums, three lines of service, 2 tv boxes, etc.
Now, that being said, the price hikes are well, normal. Those who own the channels raise their prices, look at viacom. In the last, what, year, they raised their prices of their channels SO much that most companies had to drop comedy central, and with it Nik and stuff. The consumer pays for some of that increase, and the company eats some of it. Viacom alone wanted to raise theirs so much that I know subs of my company were looking at a 10-15 dollar hike in price, min at the time because of it.

Yep. Nothing we can do about the channels hiking their prices. And, they have expenses and have to make some money too. I think this is all fair and with good and constant service I don't mind what I pay. It is , after all, my entertainment. Now days it would probably cost the three of us close to $100 to go to a movie and get snacks.

I can't tell you one way or the other. I know here our cell phone company is trying to get into these services. Here all of our services are separated. Cell phone, land line, satellite, and internet. So depending on you and what you want it can run around 130 dollars a month. Satellite has different plans and the basic is 35 per month. But anyhow the cell company now wants to offer us 2 hours of calling each month international, 25 channels for TV, 19 channels for radio and I forget what the other 16 things they were offering, plus 4 GB of internet for 139 dollars a month. This is not such a wonderful deal because if you figure this all out you are not getting the internet service the same as the one we have now.

@celticeagle Yah realize I live on an islands and we don't have cable service either. We either must pay for a high speed fiber cable to get some internet TV or do with a Satellite dish and take what they have to offer us.

I think it is a good deal cause you get a ton, the way I see it is if you can afford it in your budget then why not, especially if you dont go to the movies.
I spend about $120.00 a month for my cable and internet and then $11.99 for Netflix.

For me, it will not be a great deal.
I hardly have time at home to watch TV and surf net.
I spent about 2 hours everyday or less in Mylot, and I do not have time nor interest to watch TV or any other channels.
i think for a family with kids, that is a great deal.
When you have a few persons to make full use of the services, the cost of $200 divided by 4 or 5 persons come to less than $50 per person per month.

We watch television for free. The government gave out converter boxes years ago, for the older televisions. The newer TV's pick the channels up. We do pay a very small fee to stream Netflix.

Yes, I remember when the government made us all use the converters we did that for a while but never had the kind of service we have with this company here now. When using the converter the service was skectchy at best. You are lucky to have that free service.

I have about the same triple service as you do with my cable company and don't mind paying since it's my major source of entertainment too. Sometimes I stumble on a channel I didn't know I had and find an interesting show to watch. I also love those music channels

I feel the same way. I stumble on something new they have changed too. Have a lot of cool movie channels with the old and classic ones I like. Works great for me. Lots of other channels with good series on them. Like Bates Motel which will be coming back on A&E pretty soon. Many have something I like.

If it's in your budget, fine. I used to subscribe to satellite. I loved being able to get all those channels, however I didn't watch them all. In fact I barely watched any of them. I had my favorites, amounting to about a dozen channels tops. Then I was fired from my job and I needed to do something about all the 'luxury' things in my life. My cell phone was the first to go. I didn't need it. I could get Skype for free, or a small fee for a phone number. I also needed to get rid of satellite, but I was under a new contract when I was fired so had to wait two years before I could get rid of it. Praise God Bubblews was paying well at the time and I was able to get it paid with my earnings from that site until I could cancel. I have regular TV right now and Netflix costing me 8+ a month instead of $100. A huge savings and everything I want to watch is right there anytime I want to watch it - on my time. I do miss the DVR at times, but not often enough to make me want to go back to cable or satellite.

We have a land line because we just don't need the cell. I don't know what I was doing without the DVR when I didn't have it. The kids had theirs downstairs and one day I just figured I'd try it and now I can't do without it.

We cancel our cable about a year ago. It was just to much for the amount of viewing we do. So now we have netflix and like that just fine. Watch what we want when we want and the best of all no commercials.
