Do You Believe in Destiny?

Is everything predestined?
Is destiny an excuse of a weak mind?
Can we change something according to our desire?
Can we expect that our positive efforts will bring an affirmative output?
None of us has a proper answer.
Some incidents in life compel us to believe in destiny. In our good times when positivity flows, we tend to deny the destiny, but when the time is not favorable, our thoughts change. We like to limp in the name of destiny.
The incidents and the happenings of our lives might be destined, but either way, life has to move on.
What are your thoughts on destiny?

Everything has a cause and effect, and therefore everything must happen from a background of perfection, even if it's being imperfectly seen by others, or by ourselves right now.
The idea of destiny to my mind is really alluding to this perfection that exists behind all things, and makes them work. If there was no background perfection, things would cease to work, or not work at all.
The Universe goes on working in one way or another, and so I feel there is something going on behind it, some underlying reason for this happening, call it God, or something else, but I definitely feel some ultimate cause is behind the effects that we see, working behind the scenes as it were..

I always believe that God did not plan anything bad for us. But bad things come as a result of wrong choices either by us or by people around us because we were given by God the freedom of choice and we are always responsible for our choices.

I think we have free will and only God knows what our destiny is since he knows all things.

I don't believe that at all. What happens happens

we create our own destiny, what ever we do now, will be our future. It's just that in my case, I didn't do much important in my life. Now, Im stuck with taking care of an old lady. but i have a good life still despite of this i have my own free will too.

I do NOT believe in destiny for one simple reason. I'm a Bible reader and I don't think that a God of Love would ask us to pray for better conditions if we were "destined" to an unchangeable future.
There is much to be said about this subject and I will consider writing more about it later. But, think about this: John 3:16, one of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible plainly explains that we can do something about our future prospects by believing and exercising faith in God's only-begotten son, Jesus Christ.
And as I said, prayer would be useless, if our destiny was already determined.
For more information about this subject you can go to a wonderful web site: and read Bible based articles on this very subject and you can watch FREE videos and read the Bible in your own language. Your English is excellent but living in India, I'm sure you speak more than one language. It's better to read the Bible in the language you call your own.

I think we make our own destiny, we can change anything that is going on if we believe in ourselves. Fate is an excuse.

@moondebi O yeah, I firmly believe in destiny. I am destined for life to live with my spouse who snores double-time, forgets her dentures once in a while, always late to church most of the time, does not talk to me for days when she is mad, and overcooked everything including my hotdog and egg all the time . . . My usual breakfast is bread, boiled egg, and hotdog plus chopped tomatoes.

I believe the same as @BelleStarr. No one knows our destiny except for God.

I sometimes ask myself the question if this idea of destiny is linked into the concept of time somehow, but then I think to myself that maybe both concepts are unreal, or only illusionary ones, really?
Destiny doesn't exist, except for its acceptance in your mind of time, and time (the idea of it, as held by the mind) brings this idea to the forefront of your thoughts, or mind then, because you so often expect things to take place for you, only within this time.
The truth is though that all happens now. There is only the present moment existing. There is no time.
Time is an illusion of the mind which likes order, and destiny then doesn't exist in the sense of things happening through time to you either, but upon the spiritual journey that we are all partaking of, destiny could be said not to be the final destination, but more the direction of the path that is forever going ever onwards, ever expandingly to infinity.

Yes I do. But, it is foolish to leave everything to destiny or fate. What you become in your life, is a direct result of how you live
