Do you still remember your first holiday overseas?

It's probably something ordinary to you but from where I came from, an overseas holiday means spending a huge chunk of your salary for vacation. It's not that people can't afford it. It's just something people are accustomed to as they find it impractical.
Thanks to cheaper air fares, an overseas holiday has become more and more achievable for average wage earners like myself. I decided to spend it in Singapore and had lots of fun!
The best part was digesting the culture, food and amazing sites Singapore has to offer. My favorite was the whole-day walk in Singapore zoo and the late night Indian food trip in Mustafa.
I met some friends while I was there so there were tons of free meals. The last day came and I still had a $100 left so we've decided to splurge on souvenirs!
Regrets? I only have a couple, not bringing swim wear -- it's extremely humid and some parks offer great places for people to just enjoy water whether it's swimming or man made lake or water parks. My second regret is not bringing ear plugs for my 2 year old. The flight home didn't go too well coz she hurt her ears.
Next year, I plan to go to Hong Kong with my family. Hopefully, it's just as amazing! Tell me stories about your travel experience or regrets. Travel and packing tips also please! :)

I am living overseas now, and every Christmas for the past three years has been spent here instead of back home. So it is like a reverse thing for me. I would want to go to my parents' place and spend the holidays with them. Unfortunately, work and my current situation are not letting me do that.

Oh it must have been difficult spending holidays away from home. I can't imagine being away from my family even for a few days. I salute you.

True, it can be a little bit of hassle but once in awhile travel is good. Kind of refreshing :)

I've always wanted to see UAE. I have numerous friends working there so touring would surely be a breeze!

It certainly is lovely to travel abroad to soak up and absorb different cultures and look at beautiful things. I love travelling. You will love Hong Kong. Singapore is incredibly expensive though and I am not sure I would like to go back there.

True. We found Singapore quite expensive too. Looking forward to the HK trip! Which places you do you recommend?
