My Popovers were Flopovers

I promised I would show you a photo of my Popovers that I made yesterday. Well, I'm almost embarrassed to show it! My Popovers were Flopovers!
I do know why, or I think I know why, so I might try it again in the future. I will say they tasted really good, that part was OK. They just didn't 'pop'...
Here why I think they flopped...I was supposed to make 8 Popovers and I only made 6. I think I had too much batter in each. You can see the difference between my Popovers and those in the photo of the attached recipe.
I never said I was a good baker!
Photo is mine.
When I put in a link with the recipe so you could see what a Popover should look like it removed my photo and there was no way to have my photo plus the link...so you will have to take my word that my Popovers don't look like 'real' Popovers! Or you can go to.the site: chowhound.com/recipes/muffin-pan-popovers-30114

@AbbyGreenhill if they tasted good, that's all that counts.

I must say that I am not big on presentation. If the food tastes good, it doesn't have to be pretty or perfect. I can't fuss over the little things. If your popovers taste good then they don't have to look like some photo in a magazine.

I usually try to get things to look perfect, but that very seldom happens!

@AbbyGreenhill I must print this comment off and save it. It is so rare for a woman to admit that she was wrong.

That is sad when we have this perfect vision of how the recipe says it will turn out but then it doesn't. But, luckily they tasted fine.

They crisp on outside and inside almost pudding-ish...if that makes sense. I'll put link here

@AbbyGreenhill Thank you Abby - it was much easier reading it here than searching for it myself. I see that they are similar to our Yorkshire puddings.

As long as they tasted good I think that's all that matters. I need to come up with a dessert for Christmas, I want something new and exciting. Not the same old thing. Guess I will have to check some sites for ideas.

@fishtiger58 And it's the right color for Christmas with nice white cream cheese frosting and put some green decorations on top. I'll be there for a slice!

It's not what they look like, it's what they taste like. I added the link you couldn't just so others can see what you're talkin about.
Did you leave them in the oven long enough?

I noticed that after I wrote this and was too dang lazy to edit it @AbbyGreenhill I've never been one to read everyones comment but I'm trying to remember to do that.

Yes, they were in the oven long enough. I just used too much batter for each. I put that link in one of the comments below too.

I didn't open the oven until the time was up, I learned that a long time ago from my father! My mother didn't 'use' the kitchen!

@Jessicalynnt Totally the opposite in my house. My mother's job was cleaning up the kitchen...but certainly we didn't let her cook!

It was the fact that you went ahead and tried your best that's what matters.

For you link you can easily fix this one. Go into edit and go to where you link it. Separate it from the text with a line space. Leave your link on a separate line of it's own. Then edit and close. Now hit refresh on your screen and it will show your link correctly. When I use links you need to separate them from the rest of your text to work right. Or at least this is what I have found out.

When I copy/pasted the link it was three lines below the end of my post. I tried it three times. I finally gave up, I don't have time to mess around!

@AbbyGreenhill Yes I can see this one. Oh well sorry it didn't work for you. I had one or two times an issue like this and now I just space between links and text. Seems to work fine like this for me.

@AbbyGreenhill I don't know how to bake at all. I did once a banana cake but the recipe was open on my laptop, did my best to follow exactly what it said. It turned out good :) but other than that I have not done other things yet so every baked goodies is just good and yummy for me :)

@AbbyGreenhill Yeah, I vow to do it more when I am with my family. At the moment, I would have to do the eating alone as well so it won't be so fun :D

I know this is quite some time ago, but, wanted to reply. My mother for our Passover holiday we are not allowed to eat bread so she used to make popovers. I never learned how to make them so just eat matza.
