What was the turning point in your life that made you go vegetarian?

In my case, that happened when I realized the strong emotional bond I had built with my little female Schnauzer. At the begining, I saw her like a cute little dog, very naughty and curious. I remember I used to wish from the depth of my heart to have in my life a master, a guide who could help me overcome problems, someone who could made feel emotionally secure and supported, but never happened at that time. Now when time has passed, and she has been with me for 5 years, I thank the universe for having her with me. She has brought in great happy blessings. I decided to survive by becoming ovo-lacto-vegetarian and I feel deeply proud of it. Animals are our best companions, they give us teachings without saying a word.

@marlina I think I would rather tough it out the way I am.

Congratulations! On my 19th birthday, I read a book, then I read my Bible, then I read other books, then I took action & felt great & then I continued, read more, did really well in my tertiary studies, joined a good group of people, read more, joined another group, took more action, progressed daily, went vegan, went raw vegan, went fruitarian... life is about progression.

@Gloriange I was veg at age 19. I didn't have egg & was already allergic to the lactose in dairy products. I wouldn't call myseslf 100% vegan until December 3, 2000. From that point on, there was daily progress, more or less, refining my diet to exclude all allicious plants & herbs & all non-certified organic foods. I went 100% raw vegan in August 2010 & went fully fruitarian in December last year... one year anniversary now. Celebrating with... fruit!

I completely agree with you. Did you first follow a vegetarian diet or did you become vegan in one go? Thanks for your message about never stop moving forward. =)

I managed to be vegan for 3 years but I gave up. In fact I am now in the meat industry killing animals the humane way.

Unless you live in Korea or a country where people eat dog meat, I'm not sure I get the logic behind your decision.

I guess I didn't explain myself fully. It is not "only" because of dogs and my appreciation for their existence, but for all the animals with whom we share this planet. Most of the people refuse to see the real exploitation and mistreatment of animals by us. We should stop thinking that we are the only ones who deserve to live.
