Christmas will be a little merrier for 120 families in 2015 with 325 children in and near my town. It's our version of Toys for Tots one of the Churches in our area will be holding the event and volunteers will be helping parents select gifts for their children. Each child will receive: One large or two small age-appropriate stuffed animals. One clothing item. A hat and mitten set. A $15 to $20 gift. Five stocking stuffers. In addition, each family will receive one game as well as a blanket. Does your town do anything like this?

Yes, we do the toys for Tots and there are also some churches who have families that they buy for each year.

@Marcyaz ..It's pretty amazing really. I see a story on the news of a family having trouble and next I hear they are being given money, and all manner of help. It is fantastic.

How wonderful! I know there are various "big" organizations that do these drives, so surely there are others but I'm just not aware of them.

We are not a big town but do try to do many activities like this for people in town who would otherwise not have a Christmas.

@jstory07 It is good to know Judy. I wish I would have known that when we were homeless.

@fedupjane Oh yes! There are Christian churches in Israel. @Marcyaz we Church members do activities and parties to celebrate Christmas together but that's all :) Since most of the Christians in Israel are those like us from other countries who come to work here. -- no family and children :) We do raise funds for member who are financially in need or when we need to send out help for people affected by calamities such as storm in the Philippines.

@Marcyaz I fully agree, as would no doubt many other locals, but it is more difficult for individuals to instigate such things and we rely on councils and businesses to start the proverbial ball rolling.

@Asylum Maybe someone needs to put a bug in the ear of the council and businesses to start the ball rolling.

Oh that is sad as all counties or towns should be doing something for those in need especially the poor little children. @Asylum
