Dragging my Feet

Now that Pip is no longer having surgery, the money I have saved for it is freed up. I can now think about a new computer.
I looked at some online this morning, even put it in a art on Amazon, and there it sits.
I did ask my son about buying a computer on Amazon and he said NO. It's better to see, touch and look at what you're getting. He also said Dell would be a good option because I could get it custom built.
Custom built sounds expensive, and though I want new, I don't want to pay an exorbitant amount for it. I will however go back to Amazon and take that one out of the cart.
So I'm dragging my feet. I know I need a new computer and I will be getting one. It's just going to take me a little while to let loose of the money to buy it.
Do you drag your feet when you need to do something involving money?
Thanks for reading.

I've been highly considering Dell. I've had HPs and they've always given me problems. Every workplace I've been in used Dell and I never once needed a tech to come and fix it. The only time they were down was when they were uploading new info.

@just4him I am using an ASUS computer, they say in the computer world that they have the best mother boards, and my other computer companies use ASUS mother boards, I like my ASUS. I have never owned a Dell.

I agree, which is probably why I haven't done anything about a computer yet.

@sugartoes I won't be buying it online. But I did have another suggestion put to me just a little bit ago, and that is getting it custom built by a computer guy right here close to home and it will most likely save me a lot of money as well doing it that way.

@softbabe44 I've had a lot of trouble with HP. I've have two of them crash on me now. I'm leaning more toward Dell or a custom built one from a local dealer.

Oh, yes I have a hard time with that. My computer guy said the same thing though about custom made from Dell. I went cheap and I constantly regret it and wish I had it to do all over again.

There's a local computer shop that does custom built computers as well as computer repair. I'm considering that one.

Several sites had really good deals recently-Your son makes an excellent point. Dealing/buying locally might be a good idea for something like a computer.

There's a computer repair shop close to my home that also custom builds computers. Hopefully I'll be able to get a new computer at a good price. I also need to take my hard drive from my desktop and get the files retrieved from it. Most of my files got saved to Dropbox, but there are a few that weren't saved there, like my pictures.

eh, amazon is not necc a bad idea, but look at it this way, if something breaks you cannot just go back to the store. Custom is better, and only cheaper if you build yourself, but again same boat, harder to get fixed. Dell does have some rebuilt ones, that are quite nice, and prob have warranties of some kind. or perhaps best buy

I'm exactly like you as I drag my feet till the last or penultimate day for bills and even my computer is randomly shutting down but still postponing my purchase as I have a lot more important things to do. I go by the configuration not by the brand.

Is there alternative?
can you buy the parts, and then use the parts to upgrade the current computer?
If you just need a hard disk or RAM, then there is no need to buy the whole set.
Keyboard and monitor are quite durable, it is the hard disk that always cause problem.

I do drag my feet, as I need all the money I can get and when I have to spend it when I don't want to, it really hurts. I had to buy a water heater a few months ago, for my rental, and I just didn't have it, but I had buy it even though I didn't want to. I was trying to save my money up, but no, I had to spend it, but now that it has been replaced, then it is good for quite a few years. I would like to get an hd tv, as the one I have isn't, and my son said they are much eaiser to hook up than the conventiona ones. I just can't afford it right now, so I am stuck with the one I have until I do have the money. I could have got one on black Friday, but i refused to be at Target at 5:00 am, so I just didn't get it.

I have that "dragging the feet " feeling when I have to spend money for something not fair :) Like when you have to pay another technician to fix a problem again because the fist one did not do a good job - But for buying a new computer! Spend it with pleasure because that will make you enjoy your online activities more :)

I certainly do research online when considering an expensive buy. You should let your son help with the right one to buy. Kids are just smarter about computers then us old timers.
