He was frustrated last night.

but so was I. Talking about the new co-worker again. He has been working Saturdays with me and the assistant lately. Usually all I have to take care is blocking the store, running my back stock (for the aisle I run) and running the Holiday wall. My assistant takes care of the rest, and then it's time to go home. Last night we did things a little differently, and the new guy was helping me. I was doing the bulk of it, which I expected. I know he has his limitations, but I feel as if he is starting to get frustrated with it all. We have been frustrated for awhile as we have to pick up his slack. THe managers are starting to make him do more, even if that means he has to stay over to finish. I guess that is where he is getting frustrated. I told him last night that I was going to ask to go home early because I had done so much. I didn't leave the guy with much to do, just block the rest of the aisle we were on. I had blocked three sections already. He got upset over it and I told him I can't help that. I didn't mention how i was frustrated because I knew it wouldn't help matters. The fact was that I knew my manager would let me go home because he knew I'd done the most. The guy is supposed to be moving to another departmetn, but we have to wait until we have someone to take his place. This could take months. I am just glad that Monday and Tuesday I am off. .

Our interns are returning. One of them frustrates me pretty bad. I know he's just a kid, and this isn't what he'll be doing for the rest of the his life... but he's just so slow and doesn't care at all. I mean, why should he? This isn't his life, it's just a job, it's nothing important to him, but he doesn't see what he's doing to everyone else by not caring about the job. The other regular thinks the intern is picking up the slack, so he's slowed down quite a bit more than usual... so in actuality that's just more work being piled on me! Ugh!! But having the interns is a nice break from the usual routine.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yeah, some people just don't have that kind of work ethic. I don't think he's ever had to work for anything in his life!

Doesn't sound like a fun situation at all. As far as the intern goes, this may not be his life but it is his job choice at the moment. I would still be doing my all as far as things go.

What do you mean by blocking sections? And if the new guy can't handle the work, maybe he needs to find another job. You can't expect to do it all.

Blocking essentially means making the aisles look neat. He has never stocked before either, which is part of it I guess.

@Carmelanirel2 When I go to different stores I comment on how they didn't do something right, or how they have things all over the place (if they are stocking whilst I'm there) etc.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wonder if I had asked my husband, he would have told me. He started out working aisles in a grocery store and after all these years still makes comments on how some stores don't stock the shelves right. Yeah, sounds like he either never did it before or just doesn't want to do his work.

In the long run it may benefit him to be pushed to get past his limitations.

He isn't intentionally doing it, but he's also not taking into con sideration the tips we give him to help him speed up.

I don't want to broadcast it either. I will say that he can walk fine, and he is very cognitive.

These kind of situations arise in most companies and sincere motivated people are taken for granted by lazy ones and they don't have the desire to learn new things too :)

THis guy has legitimate limitations, but it is quite frustrating to an already small department.
