Four days ago, I joined in myLot. Suddenly I was attracted by this site. After read the guidelines, I post my first discussion as soon as I can. And then I start communication with friends all over the world. But I notice that the new ones should prepare a introduction. So, this is mine:
I was a Chinese boy born in the northeastern part of China. The climate here is very cold in winter. After I got a bachelor degree in 2011, I joined in a national oil company which provided me a job working in the offshore platform. (I'm going to the work for two weeks in this Friday, not happy)
The oil platform is located in middle of Bohai Bay.No cell phone signal but with television and very poor internet connection. (I'm not sure whether I can connect with myLot in the middle of the sea based on the poor internet connection.)
For my poor english performance, I never jioned any english community before. I find people here are friendly so I should have a try.
I have a wonderful family with my father,mother and 85 year-old grandma.
I love them so much. I appreciate them as the meaning of my life.
My father got ulcerative colitis last month but he is recovering. Thanks for god.
I was with my family for two month, which seldom happy in the previous time. Because my company is in another city and I want to show my best to my leaders in my free time which I'm off work from the platform.(Maybe you can/t understand that but it's very competitive in Chinese company) In previous time, I only spend about a week in two or three even four months.
But in this two month, I relize the nature of life that I should spend more time with my family and be regardless of so called promotion in career. The promotion is nothing compared with the love.
My friends, I hope you could understand the life more and more. Because I love this site very much, I spend much of my time browsing it.
My grandma realized this and shows a little angry today ,haha : Why you sit down in front of the computer and speak a little with me in these days .
Oh , I should stay with her and listen to those old stories now .
It's very nice to see you here! My dear meLot friends!

This is a very good introduction, @ChinaLeon ! I am very happy to meet you (again)!
Your English is good, but will get better as you use myLot to visit with all your new friends here!
Your grandma is important, too, Leon. You should spend a little time with her, a little time on myLot then a little time with her. She loves you and misses talking to/with you!
You might explain to her what you are doing, maybe read some of the funny stories or interesting posts to her. You could tell her about @jaboUK and the stories she tells. I think your grandma might like talking with Jabo, too. (It is worth a try, right?)

I will try my best to improve my English here.
I think I should find my time balance between my grandma and myLot.
It's a good idea to read some funny stories got from the mylot to my grandma.
And next I want to teach my grandma learn the internet, but it's a little hard.

Hello and welcome (though I know we exchanged thoughts elsewhere prior to this)
That is a beautiful introduction and after reading it all I had three thoughts. The first was for your grandma who proably can't understand why you prefer the screen rather than her company. The second was for the two weeks that you will be away. That will seem a long time but do your work well and it will soon pass. We will still be here when you return! The last thought was for your English and I compliment you for taking part in an English site when it is not your own language. Well done! You can learn English here when reading and writing - and you will be paid while having fun for doing that too!

@mysdianait Thakns a lot! You give me much confidence for me.
First I have to find a balance between my gandma and the screen.
Second I want to say that the two weeks in the sea actually very short.Because we spend our time day by day on the ground but I spend my working time week by week in the sea.Two week is two units. I think it's the best way to solve the loneliness in the sea.
Third thanks for your compliment. Even though I have to use my on-line dictionary for most of time, I will try my best to improve my English peformance.

@LadyDuck Thanks! Sharing heart here with myLot friends is a wonderful thing .Because the people here are so friendly. And I love those stories shared by my grandma, which could let me back to those old times that I couldn't go back in reality. Those stories make me cherish what we have got today and teach me how to live.

You and I have already been communicating Leon, but I'd still like to welcome you. Your English is very good, and I'm sure you'll fit in well here. It's good to learn a bit about you.
Isn't the internet wonderful when a 76 year old English woman can become friends with a young man such as yourself in China?
Btw. - Listen to your grandmother! You say you like my tales from long ago, so ask your grandmother for hers. Learn what it was like when she was young.
We'll understand if you won't be able to be on the internet while you are working on the oil platform, but we'll still be here when you return.

@jaboUK Thanks, Jabo! I will appreciate your compliment about my English, whcih give so much confidence.
The most amazing thing on the internet is that we could share thoughts here even we are far from each other.
I will listen to my grandma's tales. The most beatuiful moment I've ever experienced is that enjoy a cup of tea while my grandma narrating her young days.
I will try my best to stay in touch in the sea after this Friday.

Welcome and I enjoyed reading your introduction. Though it isn't required, (I didn't make one when I first signed up with my first account years ago) but it makes it easier to know someone right away when communicating with them.

Welcome to MyLot. Your English is very good. There are some Australian people who work on oil rigs too. They might work two weeks on the rig then have a week when they don't work at all. We call them FIFO workers which is short for 'fly in fly out'. So they fly in to the mainland then fly out to the rig.

Yeah , I'm FIFO workers Chinese version. Half of my time is on the sea and the others are on the mainland. The means of transportation is helicopter. It sounds like a little cool but actually it's boring......

I think you have written a wonderful introduction! It is so nice to learn a little about people here and how they live. I hope you have a decent internet connection on the rig, but if you don't, we will understand. Do listen to your grandmother's stories and spend all the time with her you can. Someday she will be gone and you will wish you knew more about her and her stories.
