Do you Think it's Right & Fair That water Companies Charge us for Drawing Water From Tanks, Dams, Bores & Wells?

Over the last few years here, water companies have been coming onto farmers properties & placing water meters on natural water sources, tanks, etc. With the advent of regular monitoring using Google Earth, for example, it's very easy for local governments & utilities companies to check up on what's going up or down in people's back yards.
What do you think is behind it all?

Here the water company only charges you how much you consume from the water pipe. If you get your water from the well, nobody will bother you. As it is not so possible to find a well in the city. And people don't use that water as it can be as clean as from the water company.

That's the way it should be. I understand China doesn't fluoridate the water supply nowadays?

@veganbliss It is strange I can't find the word " fluoridate" and I don't know what it means.

@youless Fluoridation is the process of adding small quantities of industrial waste to our water supply which the west has been brainwashed to believe is good for stopping tooth decay & purifying water in the absence of all supporting scientific evidence. There are many MyLot discussions on this issue.

Yes, we should go with that!
Perhaps a tiny bit paid through taxes to maintain infrastructure & build more as the population increases.

@veganbliss. The taxes can come from the taxes the government take from our paycheck.

I guess sooner or later every farmer will dig a well just to avoid paying so much money.
Getting clean water is going to be very expensive in future due to climatic change.
When you have severe drought in some areas, and flood in other areas, it is hard for the government to strike a balance with natural resources.
The only way is to use technology to purify water.

It is terrible that people are charged for water. In some areas here it is illegal to collect water in rain barrels for personal use, but the city/community will sell you their water.

Merry Christmas :-)
So unfair. That doesn't sound like a level playing field at all.
Maybe even the rain water has been poisoned in many areas by spraying or chemtrails?

Has the water company done the work? If so it is fair, if not it isn't!

Whenever our 25,000 Lt rainwater tank emptied, we had water drawn from the lake reserves chartered to us. We paid $150 for only 12,000 litters. For a large family as ours, that wasn't enough every month. On rainy months, we were okay for at least 6 months without ordering. Now we've moved to the suburbs, we spend $500/month for water bills!!! (septic tank and other services +$250 water consumption).
Our family friends use bore water and invest on massive rain water tanks, there is no government and private water companies intrusion. I want to go back to the country!

Hopefully it stays that way for your friends. Maybe they can hide it better?
