It has been a Long Day

I told my sister I would come take her to do her Christmas shopping. The people she wanted to shop for were neighbors that she usually rides with, so of course she could not get a ride with them to shop. She could take a taxi, but she has limited income and would not be able to afford to go so many stores or take time. Without someone along she would have no one to bounce her ideas off of. Before the shopping I took her to the foot doctor. I was reading a magazine in the lobby when they took me back, because they were having to be a bit aggressive with an ingrown nail. It keeps coming back, and in the winter her feet get more sensitive. She wanted me to help distract her. We scheduled an appointment to take care of it permanently after the first of the year. After her next pet sitting job. Yeah, that is right. People bring her their pets to watch. She has watched her daughter's cat, her neighbor's love birds, her neighbor's brother's dog, and will have another dog for ten days this month. Some of these people actually pay her, not that she wants it. She gets the animal companionship without the expense and she does not have to pay a fee to have a pet. Princess will visit her if we go away for more than a weekend. So, anyway, we went to the foot doctor, then decided where to go for lunch, THEN did her shopping. Then I got to drive an hour home. I was so thankful to have homemade soup in my crock pot. That left me time to get other things done, but eat well and on time. I made my goal on swagbucks, but have not reached mine here for the day yet. I have barely visited with anyone today on myLot. I will check in more tomorrow. For those who want to get hungry, it was soup made with left over turkey, with brown rice, black beans, whole kernel corn, diced tomatoes with green chiles. Actually it was my left over turkey with rice that I froze, plus my left over black bean salsa salad. that I also froze. Put together in the slow cooker and simmered all day it was a hearty and healthy meal. It is time to hurry off to bed now. See you all tomorrow.

This sounds delicious your soup. But today I went home a little early and left the guys in the office. I wanted to eat some Mexican food and so did my friend from the US who came to help me out. So tonight I made some chicken taco with bell peppers and onions in them. I made some home made hot sauce from the chilies I picked from the garden. We had fresh slicked avocados, salad, and slicked tomatoes and cucumbers. I did make a sort of a Spanish rice to go with all of this. End results. All gone. Some people ate 6 giant tacos. I use the largest flour tortillas that came to the market today. Normally the boat only comes in twice a month to deliver supplies here. I ended up buying 10 packages of 8 tortillas each and they were all gone by the time dinner was done. I used 3 bags of rice also to make the rice with. I was shocked to see how much they ate tonight for dinner. Man was it good and everyone was shocked to eat this. They had never tried it before. Even my friend from the US said wow he was impressed because here we don't have all the ingredients to make this. But I have been doing it for so long I know what and how to do this.

Oh, that sounds good. You fed a lot of people. I learned to enjoy and make chicken tacos years ago when I worked in a family run Mexican restaurant. Not my family but run by a family, and they made their totillas from scratch, starting by soaking and grinding the corn.

@GardenGerty Wow that one is amazing. I learned how to make all kinds of Mexican food when I worked and lived in Mexico. I love hot, spicy foods and it is so good. I need to have my chilies and hot taste at least 3 times a week otherwise I go crazy. I use to live on salsa and a lot of chilies all the time. Now here I need to tone it down because my partner likes it but not daily like me.

It sounds like you had a fun but tiring day. I hope the crowds weren't too bad.

The crowds were not too bad, but there was no school and so there were some unsupervised kids.

I try to swag first thing in the morning before all the surveys are filled. It sounds like you had quite a busy day.

When I checked early in the day they did not have any surveys I qualified for. I have done okay today with a couple. I have passed my second goal. I do approach it with the idea that first thing is more likely to gain success with surveys.

She should consider charging for the pet watching as she's saving people a lot compared to kennel costs.

She likes to feel needed and help her daughter. The one lady insists on paying her and is happy to do it. The lady with the lovebirds takes her places and gives her free transportation as well as being a friend.

I am home today. I find home made soups to be very tasty and economical. My sister is good to me as well. My daughter describes her as a caregiver personality.

It does sound as if it's been a very long day. The meal you had sounds like just the ticket for comfort food after a busy shopping day. My grandfather who is diabetic has had to start seeing a foot doctor recently. His first visit wasn't the most fun, he had a lot of complaining to do once he got through with it. They've prescribed him epson salt foot baths. I have bought him two pairs of socks that are supposed to help with diabetic foot pain. He's been wearing them quite a lot. He says they help tremendously. I've also bought him a foot lotion that has mild pain medicine in it to help, but not sure that he's been using it or not. He's not one for medicines, but with family history, I can't say I blame him on that. Sorry I've started to ramble. Your meal did sound very delicious though. I"m a bit envious as all I was going to do for my lunch was cook a bit of mac and cheese. It will be a treat as I have not had it in quite some time.

It is really important for diabetics to take care of his feet. Epsom salts are good for diabetics as they are magnesium. If he is old enough to be on Medicare they will buy, or help pay for special diabetic shoes with custom insoles once a year. Have you ever seen the one person crockpots that you carry like a lunch box?

that's rather sweet, she gets pet visitors, but doesnt have to worry about vet bills and the like. If she was closer, I'd have a puppy who needs some care when I am work! lol

I hope the ingrown nail problem can be fixed once and for all, maybe through a simple surgical procedure.

After the first of the year, when her next doggie guest goes home, he will do an outpatient surgery that will remove it permanently. Then she will not have to go through this again.
