A Phone Should Be Just That; A Phone

The other day, I went to retailer store for my cell phone provider. I couldn't believe that they no longer had basic phones anymore. The reason I went though was because I wanted their input on changing my phone plan details. I left there wondering what on earth would I do with a phone that has everything but the kitchen sink and bathroom toilet. A phone should be just that; a phone! It's just ridiculous that the newer phones are doing so much. For what? All these iPhones and snazzy androids are falling and breaking so easy. They cost so much to get in the first place. Now, if your phone uses a SIM card, I guess it doesn't matter as much but think about all that extra cost going out the window. I think it's insane. I did upgrade my phone plan and well it does have a few features I would like to take advantage of so I guess I'll be upgrading to an android. It will be easier on me than some iPhone. I won't be getting it for awhile though. I have a half broken tablet to replace first.

It is becoming harder and harder to find a bog-standard basic phone. We CAN still get them here but you often have to suffer being treated as if you are some kind of moron and usually have to justify oneself by explaining that it's for your 80 year old mother. I agree with you about the fragility of smart phones. I'm not sure why the screen still has to be glass. Surely there are less fragile plastics which could be made to do the same job! They are also designed as small tablets, not comfortable to be used as phones at all. I think that all phones should come with a well-designed and inconspicuous Bluetooth earpiece (instead of the useless earphones) so that there's no need even to take the phone out of your pocket unless you have to enter a phone number or want to do something else with it.

I've used bluetooth but not a big fan of it. Using earphones actually gives me better hearing capability and if you are using earphones that are made specifically for the phone many of them have a mouth piece attached. I used to have one that let me initiate and hang up calls from the earpiece set.

I have what they call a smart phone, I hate texting and don't want to go online with it at all for any reason. I just want it to ring if you want to talk. It was all they had available not just a darn phone anymore.

I hate texting with my current phone. When I do upgrade and get an android, I'll be much happier tapping the screen. The keys are so tiny on my phone that I make huge mistakes all the time.

it took time for me to replace my old Nokia phone, simply because i'm contented with just texting and calling, i don't need an expensive hi-tech phone with the type of work i do besides i have a desk top. Recently i switched to android simply because it's free for being a loyal subscriber, for one it it's waterproof, i bought a scratch proof tempered glass cover and armor case so it's indestructible in theory. I did not regret getting it, it only took some time for me to learn and adjust to newer features. I have the same number but the Sim is now nano so more extra effort to transfer data from the old phone.

I've had mine for about a year and a half but I'll be okay upgrading to an android. I like my laptop so I won't be using the phone for everything.

The phones they have now are insane! I don't know how to work half of the ones I have seen. I have an android phone, its a simpler model so it doesn't take much work to use it.

I'm familiar with android but not the iPhones. It's just too much.

I have an Iphone 4s but it took awhile before I justified myself in buying it. I do use the phone for more than just talking and texting though. I play music on it, I remind myself of things, I can look up the weather and scores for co-workers who missed a game. I don't have a contract plan, mine is prepaid. While I would like a snazzier and newer model , I am happy with what I have. I think they should still carry the basic phones for those who prefer them.

They should continue to carry basic phones for old farts that want nothing to do with newer technology because we weren't born into it.

My phone is just a basic one and I only bought it last month, so they are still available. I don't want the bells and whistles either. I just want a pay-as-you-go. Mine only cost £10.

What I have now is a basic phone. Once I go for an upgrade though I will be forced to have one with all those bells and whistles. I'm just going for the simpler ones so that it doesn't cost too much.
