Here are some kitchen tips you can use, my granny taught me :)
1 to prevent over boiling or to get perfect noodles, boil the required amount of water and noodles turn off the heat and let it stand for 30 mins, no it will not need chor of stirring and noodles wont stick to the pan
2 while cooking cabbage or onion, add a lemon wedge to the pot.
3 And for overdone vegetables, put the pot in an pan of cold water for 15 to 30 mins without scrapping it.

Cast iron pots rust easily, rub gently with veggie oil and dry with a paper towel to stop rust forming. If it does rub with 1 tablespoon citric acid in a pint of water.
Aluminium and Stainless steel pans get discoloured - boil rhubarb or lemon juice to remove the stain.
Burnt food will come off by filling the pan with water a sliced onion and a tablespoon of salt. Boil for 10 minutes if you can stand the smell and soak overnight, any residue should wipe away.
Copper tarnishes so rub it with crushed rhubarb leaves or the cut side of a lemon dipped in fine salt..

Pet urine can be cleaned with pure white vinegar and scrubbed and then rinsed and blotted with water

Yep, it works but it works better when you use baking soda to soak up the wet.

If the inside of your dishwasher is dirty and grungy looking, put Tang (orange flavored powdered beverage)in the detergent dispensers and run it a full cycle with the dishwasher empty. It really cleans the inside and makes it look clean and shiny and new again.

Whenever I cook i tend to have oil or butter splashing on my clothes. As soon as the happens i always put a little baby powder on teh stain and so when i wash it the stain is gone. The baby powder absorbs all the oil so no hassels even if you wash it the next day or the next week :D

Ya'll seem to have a lot of the answers. How about this on: Crayon on car seats. I have read online to use an iron and resolve and rags. Where is my problem, I live in an 3rd floor apartment and don't have a place to plug in an iron near my car. Anyone have an alternate idea?

That's gotta be tough. If you have the money get it cleaned by a pro then never let kids have crayons in your car again.

I had to see if this idea works and it does. Pour coke over any metal that is dirty, even rusty. Then wad up a big piece of aluminum foil and begin rubbing the metal. I did this to my grill top and it worked perfectly. The shine was back and it looked like new again. It is messy though so make sure you have plenty of rags and water to rinse every so often especially if the metal is extremely caked with soil.

Yeah, in South Africa, all the bread ties are white, too. We don't have the twisty tie thingies, but little plastic goodies with a slit in it that performs the same function

okay this may be a bit EXTREME so TOO MUCH INFORMATION possibly just ignore the post
To rid of a yeast infection (I said TMI) apple cider vinegar...YEP just put apple cider vinegar in your bath water and soak for a bit....I guess it clears it right up!!
I tried the baby wipes thing and it actually does not work on my carpet stains....however what i am thinking is that if your carpet has some sort of stain resistance on it, then it would work....my couch has that stain resistance coating on it so the baby wipes will pick up , but I refuse to use wd40 or resolve on my couch because my kids do not do well with the fumes, the cough too much...so I use ....a different product which cleans up just about everything.

I have very sensitive skin and so I try to use natural products and VINEGAR has so many uses, I use it to clean windows, surfaces but also to clean my iron when it clogs up.

I use vinegar and baking soda for all my cleaning needs, sometimes I add a little salt to the mix.

If you keep getting unwanted cats in your garden, use diesel. Put it either along the top of a wall or the bottom of a fence. Cats hate the smell & stay away. (More a garden tip than a household one).
If you have a guest coming round at short notice and no time to clean your house, polish the taps (faucets) in the kitchen and bathroom only. Makes the sinks look clean until you get time to do them properly.
If your mirror steams up when you´re shaving or showering, put a little shaving foam on your fingers, smear over the mirror and it will keep it steam-free so you can finish shaving.

Rubbing mirrors & windows with scrunched up newspaper after polishing gets rid of smears.

There are only two things you need for household jobs and DIY - masking tape and WD40. If something doesn´t move but it should, use WD40. If it moves and it shouldn´t use the tape.

Put a handful of Cornstarch in to a bucket with 2-3 quarts of warm water, mix with a soft cloth, wash windows and mirrors and buff off with papertowels or newspaper (newspaper works best) The glass will be so clean it'll look brand new. I have tried this it's an old tip from Hints from Heloise, and it works great. A little too well actually,my Cockatiel flew into the back door the other day. He's ok though.

Baking powder is great for removing some markings from appliances and sinks. Just add a VERY small amount of water and apply the baking soda to a towel. It will rub off permanent marker from a refrigerator... found that out when I was a kid! I use it on many things now that I'm a mom myself. The other day used it on a high chair that we keep around for company. Had some black markings on the tray, not sure what they were and nothing would take them off. The baking soda worked on that too!
