Do you lick envelopes and the stamps?

I don't ever like to. Gives a bad after taste and I once read that a woman licked an envelope and got cockroach eggs on her tongue. So I just get a cloth and wet it with water to dampen the envelopes and stamps. What about you?

whats an envelope? its been sooo long since ive used one. as for stamps, i kid you not , use less than a dozen a year. stamps here are like stickers, self adhesive backs to them, no licking involved.

I don't go licking "things". It's been awhile I last sent an envelope. We use glue or there are those sticker types available.

LOL totally off subject. Sort of. But my Nan was telling me that someone she knew used to lick walls when she was pregnant. That's what she craved.

@VivaLaDani13 Signs of Calcium deficiency It's common in kids too. They eat mud or wall chips. LOL My cousin when she was little, bit a little chunk out of a wall corner. My another cousin (he was in his early twenties) used to use spoon to dig out holes in walls so he could eat it. Talk about weird family!

I will never lick envelopes and stampes. It is not clean at all. I think it is also convenient for me to use the glue to stick it.

My stamps do not need lic king as i peel them off the cellophane and put on my envelopes. I also have self sticking envelopes that you just peel the paper off and press the edges shut.So no licking is needed. I never have licked them as i just wet my thumb and did it that way.

Our stamps are stickers, so there is no need to lick them. As for envelopes, I have gotten rid of the licking habits. I will use glue instead. if the envelopes are self-stick, that will be good.

Here in the United States, we don't use stamps that need licking anymore. You just peel and stick them. Although most envelopes are the kind you have to lick to seal, they do make ones that are self-sticking. I prefer to use those when I send things by mail. It's funny, because with the advent of technology (such as email, online bill-pay and other electronic methods, I can't even remember that last time I had to send something by postal mail!

lol Yeah a lot of people now will just send emails or messages to communicate with people. I still like to send mail from time to time cause I am old fashioned.

I learned a trick years ago from our local Post Office. They kept a sponge in a small bowl with water. Then you can just dab the stamp or envelop on the sponge and seal it. So I adopted this technique. They no longer do it in the Post Office since nearly every stamp is now self-aheasive.

Oh yeah I remember those. I haven't seen them use that in awhile though but you're right. It is a good little trick to avoid licking them.
