I am a Collector

Canada

Certain things seen to gravitate to me. At Christmas I notice it more than other times because my collections (some of them) get put away and have a season. This season my Santa Collection is out and looking beautiful. I also collect angels. All the angels are out and most get put away after Christmas but some stay out for the whole year. The photo attached are three big Angels made by my sister who is an artist with fabric. The Frog angel even has her fingernails and toe nails painted She sits where ever I want her to. The flying Angel is made to fly attached to an antique spindle. Is is looking into the future. She has a lot of tiny details you can' see in the photo from head to toe. The little one standing in white has a sculpted face with a lot of personality. She is singing. Her dress is delightfully delicate and beautiful. The red clay is a beauty I bought in Santa Fe, New Mexico years ago. Next are four LladrĂ³ Angels playing musical instruments on the fireplace hearth too next to the Santa Fe angel. There are many more and each and every one is special, attached to a happy memory. When I pack them up after Christmas I will choose a few to keep out for the new year. I will share some other collections I have at another time. I adore anything made with blue glass. I also collect Occupied Japan Pieces from the 1940's. I find them at yard sales, flea markets and antique stores along at charity shops. Its fun finding items your love in strange places. So are you a collector? And if you are what do you collect?

I love little angels, snowmen and Santa ornaments, I've got them everywhere in the house. Your collection is pretty nice looking, love to hear the stories behind each piece, that's what makes them really special.

No I don't collect anything, but I like your angels - Elaine is very artistic, isn't she. How is she, btw? Not going to join us here?

Thank for asking. She is fine but her husband has been seriously unwell but is recovering now. She didn't like the B place and I haven't encouraged her to join because of the stress at home but she knows I'm here. When things calm down at her house I'll suggest it. She's been sewing a lot!!! Its therapy for her.

They are lovely. I used to have a angel ornament collection. I had some old ornaments that my grandmother had given me all in the same box. I lost them in a marriage. And, I had a collection of unicorns at one time but a little girl who came to stay with us stole them. So, over the years my collections have all gone by the way side one way or another. Just things.

Tinware is inexpensive and you can use it which makes it very appealing. @PainsOnSlate I am always on the lookout for a unique piece. By the way I love your new picture you look like an angel. lol

I love your list, I have seen many to add to your collections. Tinware always interested me but I never started collecting it. I used to have tea cups but i sold them, took up too much room.

@PainsOnSlate Well, I am Catholic, it's a bit of a shock for me to see an animal dressed like an Angel. This is considered very disrespectful for our religion.

@LadyDuck I'm sorry you are offended but I love her. I am a Christian and have no problem with creativity. If you think about it I'm sure Disney and others did priests and angels as cartoons, same thing in my eyes - Art not disrespect. We will have to agree to disagree...

That frog is a favorite. I sister made it and sold many with many different teams. She made the angel for me because she knew I collected them and i love her - both my sister and the frog angel.

@PainsOnSlate Not that is matters but they're Beswick ornaments, offshoot of Royal Doulton. And I can't believe I don't have a photo of them. I'll take some and maybe do a post about them.

Well, @painsonslate , I used to collect music boxes of different types that have a Christmas theme to them. After I started working at Walmart, I quit collecting them. Walmart starts Christmas so early that I am sick and tired of seeing Christmas well before it is actually here! I haven't gotten a single music box out since I started working at Wally World!
