Boxing Day, So Guess That's It Over For Another Year...

Christmas Day has been and gone for yet another year. It wont be long until the same can be said for Boxing Day. The time before always seems so busy - so much to do, all in preparation for one day. And now, yet again it's over for another year, leaving me thinking, planning of the year ahead.
Really, think I was hoping to find a home to write. I did some writing in 2014, but not so much during 2015 and felt it missing.
Somewhere friendly, with interesting posts and discussions was what I was looking for. And then by chance, tonight I have sort of stumbled upon myLot...

Well welcome to MyLot. I hope you enjoy yourself here.
I do agree with what you said though. So much planning and money is spent for just the one day and hen BOOM it's all over. And then it shall happen again next year.

@Darroch Guess people like to go all out to have an awesome day but it has only been 2 days after the day and I am feeling bad about all the money I spent lol I mean I am glad I made people happy with the gifts I gave them but in general, Christmas seems to be a bit depressing afterwards. Well for me personally anyway.

@VivaLaDani13 I know what you mean. I love to give gifts that I feel people will love, but it can be all too easy to spend more than I can really afford and so sadly comes accompanied with money worries. If only we had plenty of money... Guess I can always dream. lol.

@kevin1877uk On Christmas Day, it was just myself, my husband and our daughter, so lovely and relaxing, but have just spent the past couple of days visiting family. Only just really back home.

What's this boxing day deal? Does it represent anything special?

Some of the origins of boxing day include it being the day when collection boxes for the poor were opened and distributed, or that it was traditionally when employers gave goods to their employees. Though I couldn't say for definite where it originates from.
There seems to be a few different reasons behind boxing day, but guess what I was most familiar with growing up was that it was the day the big sales in the shops started. This year though I was noticing some places actually started their sales on Christmas Eve. Didn't seem quite right to me.
