Christmas Loss

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. It was great for me, but when I got home there was a Facebook message from my ex-boyfriend's grandson. He had passed away. They found him on Christmas day and the coroner believes that he died on Wednesday. I was devastated by this. I was happy that we maintained a friendship and last year he asked if I wanted to get back together, I said no. Now I think, had I only moved back he would still be alive today.
He had uncontrolled diabetes and he was found with his insulin pump detached. I think his sugar must have gotten very high that he disconnected it. But he also had a head injury, must have happened in the fall.
I still loved him and I know he loved me, he was just a very difficult man to live with. The funeral is tomorrow and I am unable to attend. I had hoped they would have waited until I could get there. I was so desperate to get there that I put an ad in craigslist looking for a ride. But it is just as well, I would have probably fallen apart. I never dreamed I would be so upset over him, but then again I was sure I would always have him in my life.
I wrote a poem that I hope they will allow my daughter to read. I'll put it in another post.

@Pattitude That is a shame it was so short and they just wanted to get it over with. I would image you would of given him one big bang send off and it would of been done in style. That is what we did for my dad when he passed 2 years back. We have him a wonderful memorial service and sent him off in style.

Thanks I am doing much better today. I know his life with diabetes was no life at all and he was pretty miserable.

There was no opportunity. She said she felt like the family just wanted to get it over and done with. And no one was there but family.

Thank you Marilyn, it is very hard. I have never lost anyone I had ever been in a relationship with.

Sorry for your loss. Diabetes is a terrible condition. My grandmother had diabetes, and my uncle also has it.

Loss is a difficult thing to deal with and even when we break up with someone when they meant a lot to us and we remain friends after it makes it all the more difficult. The love doesn't go away it just changes is all. Sorry you were not able to get closure I hope things are better for you now.

I am so sorry for your loss! You can't dwell on the "what if's". For what ever reason, God decided it was time for him to come home. It's good that you were still friends, just know that he is happy and healthy now.
