I had no clue what this was until I saw the segment on the news this morning. It is Monday, December 28th and it is 'Good Riddance Day'.
If you are in New York City you head over to Times Square (yes, where the ball will drop on Thursday night) and you will find shredders set up. They are saying, shred it and forget it and that could mean anything.
If you have old love letters from a long gone love, shred those letters. If you want, they will have paper available for you to write down those bad memories then shred the paper.
While old lover letters is just one example, there are all kinds of things that people can shred..old memories, bad memories, can be found in old bills and receipts, etc.
You could do this at home, no matter where you live - shred those bad memories and get ready to welcome in 2016!
Each year on Good Riddance Day, people gather in Times Square to say Good Riddance to the past year's worries and fears.

This has more to do than just letters..it can be shredding a 'paid' mortgage or things like that.

I have a few photos of an old love, but they are 'hidden' and I don't plan on shredding them.

Hey there, I've returned from the Christmas retail season to catch up. I tend to throw those things out really fast. I'm afraid someone who would look at my house would think I have now past!

@AbbyGreenhill Pretty much. I am pooped and slightly out of sorts, but that seems to be how a lot of people feel!

@AbbyGreenhill that's a good idea. I don't have anything to shred but I would have taken part in the day if I had.
