Tired Of Festive Food

Did you eat too much on Christmas? We all tend to abuse during the Christmas holidays, with the result to feel tired and overstuffed. I cannot say that I overate, but I am tired of the classic festive foods and sweets and I am not in the mood to eat the leftovers three days in a row. I have sliced the baked ham leftover, divided in several single portions containers and put in the freezer. The ham will be good in a couple of weeks when the Christmas dinner is only a souvenir. For the moment I switched to more healthy food, like vegetables, fruits and soups. What do you do with the leftovers?

My favorite leftover is turkey. I have one more day of it and it will be gone. I'm going to have a turkey sandwich on sourdough bread, yummy

I had turkey the day after Christmas and now I don't care for any more for a while, sourdough bread does sound yummy though. @fishtiger58

I have leftovers the next day and then cut up and put in freezer bags for another day in the future. I did not have a lot of sweets over the Holiday nor did I overeat.

@LadyDuck That was so kind of you to give the sweets to your mom for her tea in the afternoon.

I gave the sweets to my Mom, so she has something to have with the afternoon tea.

All that I have left are a few mince pies, which I would happily eat 365 days a year anyway.

@LadyDuck Oh I will; not be eating those specific ones because I added laxative for the reindeer.

@Asylum Why did you add the laxative? Poor reindeer, they are sweet animals.

Not everyone over eats or abuses at holiday time. We ate different than normal, but not overly. Our Christmas dinner is gone but not forgotten.

I am also tired of all that holiday food. I have my ham bone in the freezer for when I make some pea soup.

@LadyDuck I don't have many leftovers. I sent a lot home with my family members. I tend to get sick of them after a day or two.

@LadyDuck give enough away and you'll be leftover free. Can you freeze any of them for maybe a couple of weeks down the road?

I have not much leftovers because I had many guests who took home most of the leftovers. Good that they did that because all I want to eat after those festive foods is also vegetable and fresh fruit juices.

I proposed to have the Christmas lunch at a restaurant but everybody declined. I know that at home it's much better, but it's a lot of work.

I agree, I will make a sauce to serve with the ham leftovers, a mustard sauce or a Madera sauce, so it will be e a bit different.

@LadyDuck , I definitely ate too much. Luckily family took some left overs with them, so there is just a little left that my family and I will snack on. I am trying to ignore the chocolates and eat more fruit after these last few days.

@LadyDuck , that was a good idea, I will have to put the chocolates away where I can't see them too, otherwise I will probably keep eating them.

I enjoy the leftovers for a day or two, we have been having smoked ham for breakfast and sandwiches. After then it is into the freezer for the rest of it and it will be eaten in a month of so.

I love making sandwiches from leftover meat. I just try to stay away from dough's in my diet. I've been dehydrating them this year. Actually if I don't do it quickly ill end up making a sandwich from it an hour after or two after eating with the family.lol

Leftovers are kept to be 'recycled' into a new dish. After the holidays, I usually go back to eating healthy - mostly fruits and veggies.

Well the leftovers of festive food are distributed to the homeless who cannot afford their daily intake of food.

This is a good thing to do. Our grocery stores distribute the leftover food to the charities, we do not have homeless in Switzerland.
