Do You Still Stay in Touch With Any of Your Childhood Friends?

Once we become an adult, we might get married, or move to another state or country and we lose touch with our childhood friends.
I went to a class reunion a few years ago and reconnected with some of my high school friends. I got everyone's email address and communicated with them for a while, but now, even though I still have their email addresses, I haven't been in touch with any of them for a couple years. I really need to reconnect again.
One friend of mine that was NOT a school friend, I stayed in touch with until she fell asleep in death about ten years ago. We had never gone to school together. Her mother and my mother were friends, so we became friends when we were just two years old and no matter where we moved or she moved, our mothers stayed in touch. Then after we grew up and got married, we continued to stay in touch. I miss her.
What about you? Do you still stay in touch with a childhood friend?

I see one friend in particular, we have been friends for over 50 years. She has many health problems now and I do so love to help her out any chance I get. She likes to argue with me lol, she is so independent, but now and then she gives in and lets me win.

Well, that's good that you get to see them often. I moved away from my home town and lost touch with most of my friends. Most of them moved away too and are scattered all over the U.S. now.

That's good. I should contact all those that were at the reunion. I do have their email addresses. I should definitely try to reconnect with them before it's too late. I have some cousins too that I need to contact. It's a shame how we just drift away and get busy with life and tend to forget what we left behind.

Some of my old friends I do stay in touch with on FB but that's about it. People do move on and some people are only meant in our lives for a season.

@Hatley Yes, I remember on the last day of high school how we all promised to stay in touch, but everyone just went a different way and either went to college, got married or moved away and only for a class reunion did we see each other.

I have a few that I was staying in touch with on FB too, but I rarely get on FB anymore. When I was traveling and moving around and having babies, my life was too busy to think about most of my old friends and I lost touch with them.

Yes, many of my friends are now gone, but the ones that are still around, I should make a real effort to contact. I might do that this week.

@IreneVincent I do, we were friends in elementary school all the way through college, and still is. She is my best friend, like a sister. I don't know what I would do without her.

That's great! It's good to keep a friendship like that going strong. One of my high school friends started first grade with me and we went all through school together. She went on to become a nurse, which is what I had PLANNED to do. In fact, I was practically enrolled in nursing school and then decided to get married instead.
I don't regret getting married and later took some nursing classes and became a private duty nurse for a few years.
She was at the class reunion and I have her email. I just need to reconnect with her AGAIN.

@IreneVincent I hope you do reconnect. There is nothing like an old friend that's know you from the beginning.

Where is your hometown? I grew up in West Virginia. Most of my friends have also moved away from there and are in various states now.

I have one childhood friend that has remained close and we keep in touch frequently even though we don't live close to one another any longer. We both moved to be closer to our children but now we're further away from each other. AS for high school friends, etc I haven't kept in touch with any of them

It's funny how we just drift away. I often think about some of the others that I went to school with who didn't come to the reunion. Where they might be or if they are even still alive.

I think I will try to contact some of my high school friends this week, since I did have their email addresses, if they haven't changed them. It would be nice to catch up with them again.
