Hello all! This is my first discussion on myLot and I am going to share my rare experience with a guy in India, who is actually here on myLot too. I am from Colombia and travelled to India a few months ago. A guy named Ashish Bedi was with me in the flight from Colombia to Delhi, as he had visited Colombia for the presentation of his Research work. We were sitting next to each other. As soon as the flight landed in Delhi, we agreed to share a cab as we both had to go to the same place, i.e. Chandigarh. But, no cabs were available at that time as all of them were pre-booked. So, instead we both started looking for bus. It was a very crowded area. I had my wallet having about 35k INR in my hand. Some thief took away my wallet. @ashishbedi and me, seeing this ran after him, but despite of our hard efforts we couldn't catch him due to all the crowd. Thank god I had all the documents in my carry-bag and not in my wallet. I was really worried as to what to do now, since all my money was stolen and I didn't have any currency to convert. Then came Ashish to the rescue and he covered all my food and travel expenses till we reached our destination. He even gave me his mobile phone number and asked me to call him for any help. He further gave me 5k INR, which me being reluctant to take, he gave me his account number and asked to transfer the money, whenever I get money transacted. Ashish is a 21 year old student who is in his final year of Computer Science and Engineering in IIT, which is the premier Institute of India and I am still in touch with him. Thanks @ashishbedi for such a great help! I hope more people like you exist in this world.

Wow!! I am really overwhelmed by what you have written for me @maryangela. I think it's our moral duty to help a fellow human being in need. And, I know you would have done the same for some other person in such a situation. Also, I got a good friend because of this incident :)

@maryangela Indians are really generous people though there is every kind of person in this huge country. The person Ashish as you discussed could be a trustworthy fellow for his education background , it does not mean that other Indians are not honest but at certain situation one should be alert in India as well because crimes happen in India as well .
