I put my memories on Lori's comments but will repost them here. 1. Taking an 8 week driving trip to Alaska. I was 15 I just wanted to stay home. 2. Those awful homemade clothes. My mom made them too. 3.We lived by a drive in theater. My girlfriends garage butted right up against the drive in theater's fence. When there was a good movie playing all the neighborhood kids would crawl under the fence and run up and down the rows turning all the speakers up full blast. Then when it was time we would sit on my girlfriends garage roof with popcorn and watch the movie. It was great fun. 4. Sitting in the field near my house picking wild strawberries all day long with my best friend in the whole world. 5. Eating the freshly fallen snow mixed with maple syrup. Wrapped in a blanket with my best friend watching a movie and eating snow. 6. Trick or Treating with my best friend and running and running the whole night to get the most candy as humanly possible. 7. Sitting on Smokers Corner and trying my first cigarette. Oh how I coughed. So let's hear yours.

I am way too old to go back this far! Most mothers made clothes - mine sewed them, knitted them too. I still have my snowsuit and first knit coat from when I was about 1 year old.

My mom knitted too, but the clothes were sewn. That's amazing you still have some of the things your mom made you.

lol Great memories, You actually had a place called smokers corner? We just went behind Kingdom Hall which was on a small street between school and our house and tried out smoking.

@Marilynda1225 My parents both smoked so I don't think they could smell it on me.

@fishtiger58 I think there is still a working drive through out in the boonies down here in NC. My aunt, uncle and mom got a dalmation from a raffle ticket at a drive in once.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I think there is only one drive in here in Illinois left. It's really a shame they were such great fun.

I happened to see that you got this done on Belle's discussion page, so I hopped on by. Might I suggest you editing your tag to have 'seven' in front of childhood memories? That way all those with the same tag can be found in one place. I found Belle's that way, but didn't see yours. You had a lot of fun with your best friend. I used to enjoy picking blueberries, although I didn't like getting stung by the bees which happened almost every time I went.

I took your suggestion on the seven. I had loads of fun with her and miss her daily. She passed away at age 20 in a car accident.

Now those are some memories. I can see why at 15 you wouldn't want to take a long driving trip with the family. It is no fun when you can be home running around with your friends. My mom couldn't sew so we only got a few things now and then from our grandmothers. they were always nice and we did like them. They basically made us more stuff like sweaters and things like this.

@fishtiger58 My grandma sewed. When I went to live with her at 15 I was too old for her to sew me too much. She did make some great T-shirts that I liked a lot. As for other stuff she knew I wouldn't wear it so she didn't bother with it at all. But there was some things I would find patterns for and get some material for and she would make me. I got to choose them myself so it was even better than being chosen for me.

@poehere I loved the sweaters and blankets my mom knitted for me, but hated the clothes she sewed. My mom had 5 kids and sewed all our clothes. Thankfully that didn't last long I think she was tired of sewing so much, and I sure didn't complain.

Not sure about the snow in maple syrup, I can't imagine the taste, but I love the idea that you could watch the movies in the drive-in for free.

I loved number 4. I always wished I could live close to the drive in and be able to watch movies. I never would have thought about sneaking in and turning up the speakers.

I remember those drive-in theaters but we always went in the car. It was lots of fun to be a kid in pj's and watch a movie sitting in the car. Good old days I have to think of some of my own but right now my brain isn't working LOL

One of my best memories. It was such great fun.I have gotten in a few times in a trunk of a car. It's what we teenagers did back then. I think it cost a buck to get in but it was more fun to ride in the trunk. Or one person would drive in, and go to the back fence and pick up everyone crawling under the fence.

I like trying different things. When we receive our first snow I'll be trying the homemade snow mix... My son will probably have a heart attack about the mention of eating something falling from the sky... Thanks for sharing

It's way far away, I live in Illinois. Back in 1974 the Alaskan Canadian Highway was 1500 miles of gravel road, it was quite a trip.
