Five Star Movie Theater Experience - Warren Theater

My husband and I pretty much stopped going to movie theaters a number of years ago. We just couldn’t justify the cost. Also, with the availability of so many films available to us via Netflix and the library, I just felt more comfortable seeing movies at home.
I did want to make an exception to see the new Star Wars movie in a theater though, and because going to the movies is such a rare thing for us, I wanted to go all out.
We went to the Warren Theater in Broken Arrow, OK, and it was just an amazing experience. First off, the building itself is absolutely beautiful. 1920’s art deco everywhere, absolutely stunning. But the service inside is even more extraordinary than the building itself.
Every staff member we met was enthusiastic and friendly, bending over backwards to make this a great experience. We splurged on reserved balcony seats in the 21+ only area, and that was a real treat. The chairs were gigantic with individual seat and back warmers built in, so the temperature was always comfortable. The seats also had little swing tables with attendant call buttons and a full dining menu, so you could place your popcorn or meal right there. No more balancing on your lap.
I had heard from others that the theater also offers an amazing bonus for parents of small children - a ‘cry room’! How great is this? If a parent is taking a child to the movies and needs to remove them from the theater for a moment, they can go into a private room at the back of the theater with its own sound system.
But it gets even better. They also offer “Sensory Sensitive Shows”. While these are provided for families of children with autism and similar disabilities, anyone is welcome. These showtimes have a softer volume and brighter house lights, and singing, dancing, talking are all allowed. When I read this, I thought that was an incredible inclusive service to offer.
However now that all our children are grown, the ability to see a film in an adults only balcony was what drew me. You order your tickets for these online, and select reserved seats. No more hunting for a seat once you get to the theater! It was luxurious and quiet up there, and I had what I can honestly say is the best movie experience ever. You can see some pictures of this beautiful theater at their website below.
I still will watch most films at home, but the next time a movie comes out that makes me think, “I just HAVE to see this on the big screen” -- I won’t hesitate for a moment to splurge on a ticket here. Now that I know about it, I may not have to splurge too much… they do offer incredible $5.00 Wednesday matinee pricing in the regular reserve stadium seating.
Do you have any luxury movie theaters near you?

We have a few of them. And I don't like the smell of burgers, fries, etc., and the ushers serving the food and/or collecting checks when the movie is on.
Just a few things: to me seeing a movie on netflex is NOT seeing a movie--the movie was made for a 70 foot screen, not a 62" one.
I thought this Star Wars was boring for 115 minutes of its 122 minutes--a retread of the original!
I go to the movies IN A THEATRE at least once a week!
Glad you had the luxurious experience--you should have a 'date night' at least once a month--better once a week!!

That would be fun :) But right now we still can't justify the cost. HOWEVER, finding out about the $5 Wednesday matinees will definitely make me want to go more in 2016, on the weeks my husband is off from work. One good thing about being married to a professor, lots of school vacations haha. :)

some cinemas here have high cost luxury viewing gallery areas, a bit like using a private opera box. I used one a few times but generally I'm happy just to watch the movie on the big screens

Yes I think I would be too. Because it was Christmas when we went, and because we hadn't been to the movies in so long, I really wanted to go full out luxury. Based on the pictures, I think the general movie theater itself looks very comfortable indeed :)

None of our movie theatres are inspiring. But to go to the theatre to watch a live production Shea's in Buffalo, NY is amazing.
