I woke up to wet pavement in the driveway today. It was only sprinkling by the time I got my coffee brewed, and now it has stopped. I can't tell if it's going to continue. Given the drought we've had over the past three years or so, we'll take anything we can get. I see a kid client this afternoon. I'd like to take him on a new hiking trail (one he hasn't seen). But if the rain continues, maybe we'll go for bowling. How's the weather where you are?

I'm glad you're not experiencing the flooding. What differentiates the areas experiencing flooding from those that are not? Is it elevation? Or just where there's been more rain?

It has been quite windy here today but dry so far but up north a massive storm has hit and there is further flooding.

I was going to ask about the flooding. I hope things settle down for awhile so the water can soak in. We've been fortunate in that our rains have been frequent but moderate so far.

Do you still need rain there, I guess you do with being so dry. I'm glad it's rained but it can spoil the day when you have planned something to do. I know from Jan until Sept it rained maybe 5 times.

@TheHorse I know when I was there, April's father was saying they were going to be in for a wet winter with snow possible.

Today, I took my kid client bowling. We had fun. I heard on the radio that if we get 150% of "normal" this Winter, we'll be on track to stop talking drought for a little bit. We're off to a good start.

@kevin1877uk There won't be snow at my elevation, but we might get some on Mt. Diablo (3850 ft). I hope the rains keep coming slow and steady.

@TheHorse No snow, and none predicted for the coming week. I'm afraid we will eventually get hit hard though. Up until yesterday we were still having highs in the 60's which is not normal. Mother Nature is going to pay us back for it.

Sounds dangerous. Can you avoid driving? Here, it's misting now. The pavement is still quite wet. But it's not near freezing.

@TheHorse no never we don't get that cold here. It does snow in northern part of Pakistani but not in Karachi.

It is a little chilly, somewhere in the low 50's, mostly cloudy and a slight breeze...in other words, not good pool weather.

@TheHorse It's not cold enough here for the Polar Bear Club. They do that along the East Coast on New Year's day but I have a feeling the ocean is not all that cold yet.

Um, unless you're a Polar Bear. I remember the "Polar Bear Club" from my Chicago days. They'd jump in Lake Michigan during the Winter. I was not a member.

That's exactly what it's like here right now. Except I'd say cool. The rain has stopped, and there are low hanging clouds. It's about 48 out. They say it might get down to 28, in spite of the cloud cover, so I'll bring my jade plant in again.

We had snow on Monday night and it was supposed to melt and be rainy yesterday and today but the snow is still there, its been cold and off and on rain but no more snow or sleet since Monday. I think the forecast for the weekend is warming and clear.

Our pavement is still wet as I write (it's evening now), but I don't see any more rain coming down. A little snow would be nice, but we don't get snow at this elevation in this part of CA.

I heard the somewhat good news today that the snow pack is above average right now ... for the first time in several years. It doesn't end the drought, but at least it is a start.
