Challenge: 7 Memories From Childhood

Where are the fond memories? As I sat and read some of the articles on the 7 memories from childhood I couldn't help but wonder about my own memories. This was a challenge for me because a lot of the memories were negative, so I sat a while to think of the positive memories instead. I'm a positive person and pride myself on focusing on the positive instead of the negative, but at times the negative is more controversial. Either way here are a list of my 7 fond childhood memories: 1. Running up the street as I saw my father’s car parked in front of our house. I knew it was time for a vacation (summer’s, winter’s, and spring breaks) 2. Sitting outside on the porch as it rained playing with my older sister. We weren’t able to watch much television and didn’t have many toys so we used our imagination and created all types of games. Those were some of the best times- when it rained. 3. Talking my mom and sister to sleep at night. My brain runs a millions miles per second, and I constantly think of things to talk about. At night, my mom, sister and I would engage in conversations until they stopped talking and I was still talking about nothing until they fell asleep. 4. Meeting new siblings, my parents were divorced before I was old enough to remember. My dad married twice after my parents divorced. It was an interesting ride meeting a new parent, or sibling. No matter how many times he remarried (the wife was mom, and the kids were siblings). Step nothing… 5. Being a dare devil. Anytime someone would dare me to do something risky, I would do it. Jumping off houses, catching animals, playing in dirt, etc. I look at my scars and often think of my memories and wonder how my kids will be since I was so adventurous. 6. Putting on my school clothes after I got out the shower the previous night. I was so ecstatic about school, and learning. I would take a bath at night and prepare for the next day by getting dressed in my school clothes. 7. Playing school after school. I remember this so well because my sister HATED school and I loved school. While we were trying to find something to do I would always suggest playing school. I sometimes wanted to be the teacher and sometimes the student. Weird things to remember about my childhood, but those are things that I would not trade if I could. Your upbringing plays a large part in your psyche once you’re an adult. Things that you do or don’t do and why you do and don’t do certain things. Individuals you watched as a child and admired and those that you dared not to be like once you grew up. Thanks for the challenge, made me reflect and laugh a bit.

These would be easier to read if you double-spaced in between each one, especially for those of us with older eyes. We used to have neighbors in the back yard where the boys used to jump out the upstairs window onto a trampoline. I was concerned watching them, but their parent's didn't seem to mind. I can't imagine jumping from the roof of a house and not getting hurt in the process.

I had to read this when I say you are from TN..I'm to the east of you, around Athens. You are young enough to remember lots of memories.

A silly one of mine is discussing a favorite TV show with friends at school when we were about seven. We used words like "boss" and "doom" to describe cool things.
