Christmas?!.....Scrooge says Humbug!!

I have watched I think 3 or 4 different versions of Scrooge this Christmas! No matter how many times I watch the film I always find something new to learn. My favourite version is the 1951 film with Alastair Sim playing the part of Scrooge. Its hilarious but also important. There are people in this day and age who have the same ideas as Scrooge, some learn their lesson and some unfortunately do not. For me, some parts of 2015 have left mewanting to be like Scrooge and I don't mean with money, I mean with thought and deed. In general, certain circumstances that may have happened in our lives could turn us into a Scrooge, looking inward and being selfish. Its not worth it. It is better to turn the situation around and be happy and positive! Whatever you may have been through in 2015, let 2016 be a new chapter, a brand new start. I for one am going to leave 2015 well behind me and look forward to 2016! Happy New Year and I look forward to sharing more thoughts and making new friends on here

Have you been watching Dickensian on the BBC? Although based on all our favourite Dickens characters it does have Scrooge in it! It's actually quite good too ... makes me want to read more of his work.

Yesssss! I love it! It's a great show and it's cleverly done. I really didn't expect it to have all the characters in one show but its great. It makes me want to read more of his work too

I agree that we each have to be on guard against becoming Scrooge's. My wife and I have been collecting movie versions of A Christmas Carol for many years. We have two versions from the 1930s - on British, on American, the 1951 version you mentioned, and several others from over the years since, including the Muppets version, the version with George C Scott as Scrooge, and my favorite with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.

I hope that someone has uploaded the 1930's version on youtube lol! I have to see it! I've seen the Muppets version, Patrick Stewart, Alastair Sim and Bill Murray. I think that I have seen the one with George C Scott

You sound like my husband - he watched several versions of that. Me? I've seen it once, I won't watch again. (I know how it ends)

Ha ha! It's a great film and although we all know how it ends I still love watching the 1951 version

The Dickens characters haven't made it across the Channel. We don't know them in Germany or rather, only Anglophiles do.
