What kind of world do you imagine?

"Imagine" by John Lennon is a great song and way up on my list of favorite songs. He inspired us to imagine a different world. What kind of a world do you imagine?
The Bible does the same. It talks of a new "earth" where there is no wickedness but only righteousness. (Isaiah 65:17; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1) John Lennon will be surprised when he comes back in the resurrection.
Do you ever imagine a new world? Some of us are convinced that it won't be long now. Are you channeling your imagination and your life in that direction?
What kind of future world do you imagine? What kind of world does God imagine?

Hey Felix. thanks for sharing that link to John Lennon's "Imagine" I always thought he had the right idea when he sang that song. I passed it along to some of my followers, so you might hear from some of them.

Thanks for the link. John was imagining a better world, and so are we. I wonder if he had read the Bible? Maybe we'll see him in the future..

Here is a prophetic song, written by king David, and so far the prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled:
Psalms 37:1-40—The Bible in Living English by Stephen T. Byington. Select a Bible book and chapter to read.

@buenavida Well, I don't know about that. People make them happen. This world will never be united unless they learn that war and greed are just not worth it.

I am looking forward to spending eternity in Heaven with the Lord Jesus and all the loved ones who have gone on before me. Our finite minds cannot imagine just how beautiful and wonderful it will be. But the best part of all will be meeting Jesus and being able to thank Him for His sacrifice so that my sins could be forgiven.

@IreneVincent I am sure the Lord has that all planned out. I believe there will be things to do, not just lie around on a cloud playing a harp, as some people would like to think. The Scripture says we will rule and reign with Him.

I'm imaging a world where ther will be no kids who will suffer hunger, there will be no wars, there will be no greediness of things, and there will be love all over the world. It's good to have such wonderful world. But for now, it;s all just fantasy. Reality really hurts

@trivia79 Soon the fantasy will become the reality and the reality will become just a bad, sad and distant memory. Remember Revelation 21:1-5?

I'm not convinced the man had the right idea. I think, instead, he was shooting down belief in God. "Imagine there's no heaven..." I don't think he was suggesting life on earth at all, but that there is no heaven. In that, he was quite incorrect.

@IreneVincent You may be right. I was thinking he was just saying forget God (as you know, many religions think warfare, etc., is acceptable) and concentrate on being a so-called "good person."

I share John Lennon's vision of a world of peace and love in which all the people live in harmony and respect of each other and the environment, but I'm afraid today's realities are as remote as possible from this ideal world. Nevertheless, we must believe that the day will come when all conflicts will stop and all the suffering and destruction will disappear, and of course we must also act somehow, we should at least try to make people understand that if we want to live in the world of our dreams one day we should make an effort to become better persons now.

A world of peace, love and unity is what the Bible is all about. It often speaks of a "new earth" because the changes will be so astounding and profound. If I may borrow the words of John from another song. "It won't be long yeah, yeah, yeah!" (It Won't Be Long)

Yes, the powers that be are at times enemies of world peace and unity. It is a divided world with many fanatics.
However, I see a world where there will be only one government and a world-wide brotherhood. And no power that be, will be able to stop that dream and future reality.

@1hopefulman I also envisage a time when there can be world-wide unity, but I do not envisage the government of that time being anything like the various governments of today.

John Lennon was an amazing person. As far as I know, he was a man of peace but he was killed by a sick man.
If I have a basket of 100 apples and only one apple is rotten. What will happen if someone does not remove the rotten apple?
As we observe the world, we see that the destruction of the world is a constant threat, but world peace and unity is also possible. Which will take place?
I think the answer lies in whether God exists. What do you think?

@1hopefulman I like to quote Anne Johnston here, "I am looking forward to spending eternity in Heaven with the Lord Jesus and all the loved ones who have gone on before me." There sure is a higher power which we have not fathomed yet. Maybe something in the fifth dimension. But I guess it will be big enough to hold our beliefs and dreams.

There are forces at work that are bent on causing problems and on causing destruction. It seems that only God can remove those forces and teach us how to live as one united world. Looking forward to that world!

God has promised to make it better. There is a reason the world is like it is today and it's not God's fault. The Bible explains it all.

If there is a God (and I believe ther is One), then one day there will be only one religion and the world will truly be one.

There will be a PERFECT new world. God has promised it. All religions will NEVER be at peace with each other, but all PEOPLE will be at peace with each other in that new world, where there will be only ONE TRUE religion.
Jesus said at Matthew 7:13, 14 "Go in through the narrow gate because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it, whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it."
Ephesians 4:3-6 "One body there is, and one spirit, even as you were called in the one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all persons..."
The Bible says at 1 Timothy 3:1 "that in the last days critical times will be here" and describes what people will be like in the following verses and then in verse 5 it says that some people will have "a form of godly devotion but" will prove "false to its power and from these," true worshippers of God are told to "turn away."
2 Corinthians 6:14-17 tells us not to "become unevenly yoked with unbelievers..." "and then we are told to "get out from among them and separate yourselves and quit touching the unclean thing."
What do YOU think those scriptures indicate?

Je, ungependa kuishi wakati ambapo hakutakuwa na chuki, magumu, na hata magonjwa na kifo?

God has promised to end wickedness in this world. Psalms 37:9-11 says "Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more....but the meek ones themselves will possess the earth and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."
