Time is a great story teller!

Going along with the seven childhood memories challenge. I was flipping through a book I got for Christmas with pretty pictures and Celtic Quotes. Don't ask me which Celtic Language these are in as the book does not specify as far as I know.
In any case, one of the translated quotes was "Time is A Great Story Teller!"
For some odd reason this made me think of all the stories my grandparents have told over the years and how I used to love listening to them. When it was stormy and especially when the power went out, my grandmother would tell this one :
My grandparents are from the Mountain area of my State. She told us that she was sitting at a relatives house up on the mountain one night. The way she described the house I'd imagine it was almost on stilts. In any case, she was sitting by the window on a dark and stormy night when she looked out and saw her uncle in a leather jacket and chains!
The jacket was something he wore in life, as he had passed away and had been for atleast a year at this time. Of course the chains were not part of his ensemble.
Do I believe the story? I sure do! I suppose it could have been fabricated but the way she described it, she said it was as if he was still alive.
This is only one of the stories they have told. I could relay more in the future if anyone is interested. Not all are about ghosts though.
Do you have any stories your family has told that you've remembered throughout the years?

Some of the stories I've been told just pop into my head at the oddest of times. I am sure when you least expect it one will come to you.

I love stories like that. Anything that tells of a time passed, ways of life, odd occurances, etc. I think I should go back and read the Classics and things written around the turn of the century. Love that stuff.

I have a wide variety of reading tastes. A lot of the times it's just down to what mood I am in. I have read things based on medieval times, based on anywhere from the 1700's - 1920's. I've read works from various of authors that have passed as well.

No, not really. Or probably just cannot put a finger on them. My sister, now that no one is around who can contradict her, has many stories that suddenly are "true" that I do not necessarily believe.

I suppose there is no harm in her fabrications. Maybe it's just her way to remember those who have passed? Even if it is in a tall tale fashion. I have a cousin who likes to tell tall tales. Try to say that ten times fast! haha.

I remember more sayings than stories really, and it's odd things that make me remember them.

I remember sayings as well, and it's usually songs that trigger it. Then again sayings trigger songs so go figure!
