Another year is going to pass and most of us here had promised ourselves things that would make us better individuals. New Year's Resolutions are very hard to follow and stick to and I bet some of us have already given up in making these kinds of promises. But I guess by making these promises, we're already one step forward in making ourselves better persons.
So I say, keep making those promises even if you know you'd eventually break them. At least by knowing and accepting our faults and vulnerabilities, it would lead us to a better life.

@xtedax Yeah, you're right! But i think, better bring those promises of yours the next year than your promises with others. At least in that way, you will not hurt someone's feeling.
Part of New years' resolution also is the act for others. Perhaps, for others.

I agree. There are a lot of factors and forces out there that can and will keep us from fulfilling our promises. I guess we just have to strive and work hard to complete these promises. If we break them, well there's always next year right?

Nope. I don't do resolutions and I absolutely do not solemly swear with my left hand on a stack of rice crispy treats to join team skinny betchs and be less fat. No way no how.

I don't make resolutions any more as I forget what they are after a week or so. But I do try to set goals about things I want to achieve.

Yes I agree, most of us would have probably given up on new year resolutions but we must stick to them. Not because some day we'll finally be able to keep these promises(I really doubt if that would ever happen) but simply because they speak a lot about who we are and what we choose to be. Our resolutions are the reflections of our innermost desires for ourselves, so it is as if you are looking within..... isn't it?

Absolutely, Jerry! It reflects what we want to see ourselves become. It also defines our character. Even if we're not able to comply with these promises, they will certainly raise the bar with regards to our standards. It's also a form of stepping stone to a better life. Cheers!
