Do you buy smartphones for your parents?

I bought smartphones for my parents as this is what they wanted. But in fact I don't really think that they can really handle them well, especially my mom. Perhaps she just knows how to use an app from it only. As to pick up and make a call, sometimes it spends her a little time to figure out how to do it.

I allowed my dad to have my old smart phone when I upgraded to the Apple iPhone 6+. He now is using the iPhone 5 and its silly to see him squint and wear glasses to use the phone. I maxed the sizing so he can see better, but even though it is small and the keyboards is small to type, he enjoys his phone. He said its handy and takes much clearer photos. However, my mom will not upgrade - she prefers her flip phone with the basics (she just uses to call) and she says, her phone is way better than smart phone because a charge can simply last her a week or more. Whereas a smart phone, we have to charge on the daily!

@infatuatedbby Nokia was ever so popular but today it seems nobody wants to buy it except for the elders.

I bought smartphones for my mom and dad last year. In the initial 5 to 6 months they were just using it to make calls, take photos and read messages in watsapp. Then later when I told them that they can play games and read mails. Then they were very happy to see it and since then they have used the laptop very less. Now half of the day they are glued to their phones and they are very much familiar with their phones.

I think I will never buy smartphone for my mother, because she too old to use the device. Touch screen system makes her difficult to handle it. Yes, I think most of elder people will difficult to operate smartphone. But, if your parents want it, I think it is a good idea you buy it for them, to make them happy...
