2016: My Year of Gratitude

I don't do resolutions. It would be a sure way to set myself up for failure. But I do keep a few goals in mind to work toward. It's different from the pressure of having to live up to a resolution... at least in my eyes.
At the beginning of 2015, I started a gratitude journal. Today, on the last day of the year, I am happy to say that I kept up with it and there is not one single day that I didn't fill in!
I am going to do much the same for 2016 but I am going to take it a step further and add a little action to some of the gratitude. I want to make a difference in lives. I want to reconnect with family members who may just hear from me now once a year with a note in a Christmas card for one of my action items.
I want to reach out to the elderly and lonely. That's something else I did in 2015 and enjoyed it very much, but I just did that with four people, and I want to at least double it. It is no hardship for me to write a letter or card once a week to each of them knowing that a lonely elderly person will be looking for my mail. It's a joy to do.
And I want to do a LOT of Pay It Forward. Should be an exciting year and I'm anxious to get it started!

I love the idea of pay it forward. I often buy food for people living on the street when I see them. Small town I live in so it's usually when I'm out camping near bigger towns.

I've always had this big idea of paying for the groceries of the person in front of me in the grocery line... haven't done it yet, but I'd love to if it's reasonable and not a $300 cart full. :-)

@Katharina I don't think it's reasonable to pay for just anybody's groceries. If I were standing in front of you and you'd pay for my things, it would be ridiculous. I don't need financial support.
Why not buy a cup of coffee and a sandwich for a beggar of give money to a shelter for the homeless?

Thank you, @DWDavis ... there were far too many years that I just thought about it and never put it into action... or did just "little things" that may have been appreciated, but far below what I would have been able to do.

I sure hope so, @marcyaz .... so far it's working well and I feel that I have my act together with it. That's rather unusual for me at this time of year! :-)
