I started juicing last year. I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix and literally after I finished watching the documentary I got up and went and bought me a juicer and a lot of fruits and vegetables. I would love to say that I did a reboot and my life was drastically changed from that moment on. However, that was not the case for me. I had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients that I used from one of the recipes. A few days after I started juicing my throat started bothering me really bad. I didn't know what was going on so I went to the hospital. Uvulitis, is what I was diagnosed with. It's crazy because I had never heard of uvulitis and nobody I knew had ever heard of uvulitis. Oh goodness, what did I do to deserve this? Then, I remembered I started juicing and used a few items that I had never used before. I was discouraged, and out of money from buying a juicer and a lot of fruits and vegetables. After I was healed I decided to try juicing again and only use ingredients that I had already tried before. The basics such as carrots, apples, beets, celery, watermelon, and other fruits and vegetables that did not bother my uvula. I was not prepared for the results. Although, I watched the movie and was motivated to try juicing I did not think that my results would be the same as everyone else's because my thyroid is not as active as it should be. (Hypothyroidism) Plus, I did not stop eating and only juice. I still wanted to chew some of my food. Well, last year I loss 52 lbs, and gained back some of the weight after I stopped juicing regularly and exercising as I was before. This year I am making a habit of juicing on a routine basis and exercising more. Like so many that start the New Year wanting to be healthier, smaller, and just a better individual I am on that bandwagon. I didn't set a New Year's resolution, but really a daily resolution to do better. I shared my experience with juicing because it may beneficial to some of you out there. Watch the movie- Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead! Let me know how juicing works for you, if you try it. What things are you doing this year to have a healthier body, lifestyle, and longer life expectancy? Do you already juice? If you already juice, please share some recipes. I attached a website for those who want to know the benefits of juicing. I sleep better, feel better, have more energy, breath better, and my skin makes me look like I am ten years younger than I actually am. Ok, not ten years, but five for certain. http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/juicing/benefits/

We had a juicer but only used it for awhile. Juicing is one way to go about things, but it doesn't work for everyone. I am glad it seems to work for you though the beginning was a bit unexpected. I had never heard of the Uvula infection either.

@chandrejackson We had one that I can only describe as family juicing to the extreme. Way too many pieces and way too much work. We have a magic bullet type thing now.

Depending on the juicer you have it maybe a LOT of work. My initial juicer was a LOT of work and didn't yield as much juice as the juicer that I now have. They both require a lot of prep work, and a lot of fruits and vegetables. Your right juicing is not for everyone, my best friends hates it- lol! Good Luck to you on whatever your trying.

Yes, it takes a lot of willpower to eat the healthy things instead of the more tastier foods. I've been trying to do a better job at making the healthier foods including my juice tastier.

I use blender, and not a juicer. I think it is better because a blender retains the fiber which is good for our digestive system. Fortunately you do not stop juicing due to bad effect in the beginning.

I Started juicing fruits 6 moths ago. Then my friend next door started juicing some vegies mixed with other ingredients, she is on diet. I wonder how it taste. She gave me a try. It was Spinach mix with carrot and something else, oh my I feel sick all day. Not anymore will try any vegie juice. I will stick with fruits only.

We are juicers. Like you, we also 'chew' food. We add a lot of the pulp from the juicing back to the juice and save some for baking and soups. Juicing is something we do to get extra nutrients. It is great for everyone doing it right!

Hey! I never thought about making peanut butter with it. A couple of people have told me that they make other things with their juicer. How do you make the peanut butter with it? Happy New Year!
