How much junk?

Today, as I was reviewing my 2015 mentally and cleaning my house like a mad woman I could not help but think about how much junk I had.
Waitttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't instantly think hoarder. LOL! I am not a hoarder.
However, I do tend to buy to many clothes, and other things that I think at the time are important and later I realize- not so much. It took me cleaning up, deciding what was going to be given away, doing laundry, and moving things from one location to another to really evaluate my things.
A little goal that I've set for myself is to save instead of spending things. When I am in the store I'll really ask myself if whatever I am trying to buy is needed or if it is just a whim. Then, I'll still wait to buy it, if after a few days I still think I need it then I'll go back and get it.
What are some things that your doing this year to save money?

@sugartoes that sounds like you have a plan to get stuff out of your way.

I can say I'm guilty in the book dept. I'll gladly accept any book that people are willing to give me and I have two boxes in the garage that I haven't even looked at yet

@Marilynda1225 I used to collect a lot of books too. I finally started getting rid of ones that are easy to get at the library. I am glad I let the library keep the books in order and dusted now.

I won't be saving much money as I have severe debts but I hope to find ways to earn more - ideally a proper job but also finding new writing outlets too

The thing we need to do is to quit eating out. I noticed in another discussion that someone said to ask "can you afford it?" and "will you regret it?"and I thought that sounded like a great approach.

YES, its easier to just stop, but it adds up over time. So, I've been trying to cook more at home and then not cook again until we eat the leftovers.

I will have all outstanding debt paid off (saving interest charges). I will also try to use things I already have before purchasing new.

If the place where I go to is within an hour walking distance, i'll walk it. For some people it's too far and tiring but I save a lot of money and working out at the same time. I've been doing it since I was in high school so it's pretty much a habit now. xD

@arthurchappell right right.. XD i don't mind walking under the rain. But when it's scorching hot and there's no shade, I don't dare taking a step outside. Though if it's an emergency, I'll go out but I will take a ride for sure.

I wen through my closet and I found a lot of stuff that I have not used in a while. I am getting frustrated and overwhelmed by the lack of space and shortage of clothes hanger, that instead of getting more I decided to put everything I will no longer use in garbage bags to be donated to goodwill. I have thrown some which are totally useless and which, for some reason, I had second thoughts about pitching. I plan to go through my closet regularly now, at least once a month in order to avoid the clutter that I accumulated last year.

I'm just going to stop buying clothes- and wear what I have. Wear it until I can no longer wear it.

I'm also thinking twice or maybe even three times if I really need something instead of impulse buying.

I do a lot of shopping on Amazon and I'll place things in my shopping basket and leave them there. If I still feel like I need them in a few days/weeks then I'll buy them, but if not I just delete them out of my basket. Whatever I can do to help me be more frugal.

Some people has the capacity to save the money, some don't. I am the "don't" Version. Saving money is important. But i can't just do it. Every time the things i want, i just go for it without thinking whether it's good or bad or may be it's just one time use, spending will be not so wise i just don't think like that. In my childhood i have seen a lot of things like that, the things i wanted, i couldn't get it because of money reason. So i think those thinkings made me like this. When i want something, i take it no matter what, i just don't want to be like " one day i should get this" "May be Later" etc i just don't like these words anymore. But i know that's no good. I need to do something about it.
